The red light district did not seem as malicious as it lived up to be. In fact, it seemed quite more innocent in the morning. Though, the stench it was giving off was still disgusting. Nonetheless, the said hooded figure calmly watched the children play outside, listening closely to the chatter of the happy, old folk she would pass.

She would stop in front of the entrance of a small alleyway.

The year is 1921 and Emperor Taisho had stopped revealing himself to the public. Plagued with the symptoms of his illness, the poor man could no longer resume his duties as emperor and left most of his responsibilities to the council and his eldest son, the prince regent. Other trivial concerns were left to his daughter, imperial princess Aia.

These trivial concerns however have been becoming much more than trivial lately.

"Demon encounters?"

Aia couldn't seem to believe the report submitted by the imperial family's omnyoji. Firm they both stood, despite the princess's reaction.

"Your highness, reports say that the cause of the attack was a distorted figure. A human with . . . rather interesting features." One speaks out, a stoic expression worn on his features.

Demons? Impossible! They are supposed to be nothing but FOLK TALES ; stories to SCARE young children ; figments of IMAGINATION — such creatures of the night should not exist!

But Imperial Princess Aia can no longer ignore the cries of her people.

Slow steps were taken as she had entered a small alleyway, loud chattering and clanks of bottles being heard from a distance. Her nose scrunched in disgust at the smell of alcohol, immediately reaching for her ragged cloak to dampen her nose.

The young lady had heard word from the imperial palace guards that there was a so-called former demon slayer who worked in the red light district of the city. Initially, she refused to believe the story due to the guards adding that he was drunk . . . when he proclaimed that.
