In a way, yes. I found out about FNAF by watching Markiplier's gameplay of it, which was about a few days after the game was released, I believe.
Needless to say, I was instantly hooked on the game. About another week later, I began seeing the fanart all over iFunny, so I knew that this game was going to be big.
So yeah, I'd say I knew about it before it got SUPER popular.
