Chapter 5:
~Echo~
Diagon Alley. A wonderful place.
All the wizards and witches bustled all around. They shopped for all sorts of things from school supplies for children to their own supplies for who knows what.
I was the second to go through the fireplace, after Esca. We stood and waited for the others. Elissa went after me and then Ron.
“Harry’s next,” Ron said walking out of the fireplace in the Leaky Calderon.
So we waited and watched. To our surprise next came Ginny.
“Where’s Harry?” Ron asked.
“He already went through,” Ginny said as she stepped out of the fireplace.
“But he hasn’t,” Ron said now with his voice elevated.
George, Fred, Percy, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley soon followed.
“Where’s Harry?” was the question feeling the air.
Mr. and Mrs. Weasley led the group out into Diagon Alley to been looking for him. We thought that he hopefully had come out of one of the various fireplaces around the alley. We asked around to see if anyone had seen him. After twenty minutes of looking we had no luck.
“Hey!”
I turned to see Hermione with her parents behind her. They were clearly muggles. They dressed different than any of the other people in the alley. To me they were very different. Muggle’s auras felt odd to me. They were almost harder to read than other auras.
“I’m sure he will turn up,” Mr. Weasley said to his panicking wife. “He is a smart boy.”
“What’s wrong?” Hermione asked Ron.
“Harry,” Ron sighed. “He’s missed.” He quickly explained the floo powder travel and how Harry must have gotten lost.
Hermione’s face turned grave. “Do you know where he could be?”
Ron shook his head. “Right now I think we are just going to hope he turns up.”
“We will probably have more luck if we stay in one place,” Hermione said. “He is more than likely walking around looking for us. We could miss him if we walk around too.”
I smiled. Hermione was logical. Most of her knowledge came from being so book-smart, but she also had a strong sense of logic if you asked me.
My smile was soon gone. All around me I could feel the saddened auras of my friends. They were all terrified something back happened to Harry. Maybe he got stuck between one of the gates. Who knows where he could be?
Someone grabbed my arm and pulled me away from the group of worried people. Looking over my shoulder I saw George.
“Can you find him?” George asked.
“How could she find him?”
We both jumped a little and looked up to see Fred.
