Hikari's POV
It's been 4 years since the 'accident' and I'm now 8-years-old. I never came to terms with the death of my family, but how am I supposed to as it was I who killed them. Well, all but one. My father. He was kind and loving, the sort of dad you could look up to, but after he heard of what happened he became hateful and mean, drinking off his lazy arse each night and fucking every woman he brought home. It was disgusting, but I couldn't do anything. I was dangerous but afraid. A disappointment to the Junsuina name. I was nothing. He reminded me each night of what I was as he beat me, cut me, scarred me. I was too weak to use my quirk to heal all the wounds, only being able to speed the clotting of the blood so I never bled out. I would go without food for days at a time. I was always expected to get perfect grades at school even if I was to drop one measly mark I knew I would be dead. Every day I would cover up the scars, burns, bruises, and cuts with baggy hoodies that I wore with my short-sleeved uniform. I would be called names at school like fag, fat arse, nerd, emo, etc... It made me think 'Why do I live?' but my question was never answered as another beating came.
I wanted to get out so bad, but HE would find me and HE would kill me. I cried myself to sleep every night as the physical pain washed away and the mental torment began.
-------------------------------------------------------A couple of months passed and HE had finally disappeared. HIS presence hadn't graced this house for a few days and I was getting hopeful that HE would never return and he didn't. Even with the lack of abuse, my nights were restless as insomnia deprived me.
It was a Saturday afternoon, my knees pressed into my chest tightly searching for a somewhat warmth and comfort. My eyes half-lidded as exhaustion controlled my actions, it's battle with insomnia being lost as my mind ran at a million miles an hour to keep me awake and alert.
I heard the shouts from outside on the streets but didn't think much of it as there usually was a villain attack happening here and there, but I never expected the front door of the house to be knocked down. The crash bounced off of the walls and flew into my ears, leaving them ringing. I heard muffled shouts and footsteps as they got closer and closer to the room I was curled up in. My heartbeat quickened and my breathing followed. I shut my eyes as tight as they could be and waited for the pain I knew oh so well... but none came and I felt a pair of arms hook themselves under my knees and around my back, effectively carrying me out of the poor excuse of a home.
I was out and I couldn't believe it.
All sounds became clearer as the ringing ceased and I carefully opened my eyes to see the scene around me. I caught sight of civilians being pushed back by police as they barricaded the streets, a few police cars scattered here and there in the near vicinity, as well as, an ambulance that loomed closer as the person carrying me stepped towards and into the van, placing me on the white gurney. The person's face was now revealed as a reasonably young lad with dark blue hair and almost onyx eyes. He was definitely young and more than likely a sidekick and an aspiring Pro-Hero. He gave me a small reassuring smile and was then replaced by a woman who looked like a paramedic. She was constantly moving so no features registered in my head apart from a mop of red hair. I felt nothing as she put the needle in my hand and injected something into my system but whatever it was made it harder for me to keep my eyes open and unable to answer her questions.
Past that I remember nothing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Darkness. That was all there was. A pitch-black sea of nothingness that my conscious seemed to be floating around. A faint beeping could be heard in the distance. It was steady and somewhat calming as I rested, trying to figure out what was going to happen now. The beeping got louder as though I was getting closer to it. Further, ahead I could see a faint white light get brighter and brighter, and bigger and bigger until it consumed me.
