David’s pov

I get out of my car and slam the door shut, my eyes scanning the building in front of me. I look up at the sky and see black clouds rolling in, signaling a storm is about to come. But the distant charcoal clouds just remind me of that night, in the rain, when I helped a complete stranger, a stranger of which has become so much more to me, a stranger which has brought me here because I care for them. I sigh and start climbing up the stairs, looking at the glass doors, which surely were bulletproof. I walk into the building and look around, watching officers bustle along, heading to the printer or typing away at the computers at their desk. I notice an officer heading towards me, his face set in a weary yet stern gaze as he reaches me.” David Beckler?” I nod and look at him, my dull eyes staring straight into his.”Please follow me, Mr.Norene has already arrived and is waiting in the interview room with several other officers.” I nod and follow him to the room, walking in to find two officers in the corner of the room, a man with a coat at the table, and a mirror taking up one side of the wall. I walk over to the table and look at the man. He had dark brown hair which had some grey hairs, green eyes hidden behind a pair of glasses, and was wearing a brown coat and jeans along with some boots.” Are you the man who let Sarah stay with her?” The question caught me off guard, and for a few minutes I just stood there, staring at him.”....yeah?” He nods at me, sadness shooting through his eyes.”Thank you for taking care of my daughter when I was too stupid to do it myself.” I nod and turn my head to the door as a man with a yellow envelope walks in. He takes a set of pictures out and lays them out across the table. Then he takes something else out- a charm bracelet. The man-i’m assuming is Mr.Norene- looked as if he had been shot, his eyes resting on the bracelet.”Th-that’s Sarah’s…” The officer puts it down and proceeds to talk.” We found it on the body we’ve recently pulled out of the river, and i’m sorry to say it, but the blood we tested matches Sarah’s and another girl’s. Can you identify if this is your daughter?” I look at the pictures, all showing a girl in a T-shirt and jeans sprawled out. But then I take notice of one picture, and hold it up closer to me.”...It’s not Sarah.” Relief shots through me, along with a pang of guilt, as I look at the picture of the girl. She had brown hair to the shoulders and brown eyes, showing not Sarah but another girl’s face. The officer nods and takes back the pictures and the bracelet.”As soon as we test the bracelet further we will release it to you, until then just rest, we’ll find her.” He exits the room along with several other officers, and I hear Mr.Norene let out a sigh of relief, his hands resting on the table. I look at him and watch his face as it shows relief, then sorrow, then pain. I leave him to his thoughts and walk out to my car, looking back up at the sky. And as the rain starts to drop down from the clouds all the way down to earth, I cry while smiling….
