David's pov

I run through the hallways, doctors and nurses staring at me as I pass by, looking away to continue tending to their patients as I run out of sight. I can hear my heart pounding in my ears and feel the adrenaline in my body slowly start to run out as I run into the elevator and smash a button. I try to catch my breath as the elevator ascends, playing sweet melancholy music which just makes me more and more impatient with each passing second. My legs feel like they're a ton of bricks, but as soon as the door opens I force them into a sprint, making them carry me to my destination, adrenaline firing through me and encouraging me to keep going. My mind's in a haze, not caring about anything or thinking about anything else other than one thing, making me force myself to run even faster.Soon enough I stop in front of a room, panting hard as my heart pounds even faster than before. I open the door and stumble in, my eyes searching and immediately fixing themselves on the person who is sleeping in the bed."...Sarah......" I fall into a chair by her bed, reaching and taking hold of her hand as I stare at her face. Her head and arms are bandaged up, and though I can't see the rest of her body, I'm sure she has other injuries and scars littered all over her body. I finally catch my breath and my body becomes heavier as the new found adrenaline disappears. I lay my head on top of my hands and hers, feeling her heart beat pulse through her vein and drum on my forehead.I smile, and I chuckle as I say to myself "Oh Sarah...I've finally got you back.....I thought this day would never come..." I look up at her, smiling bigger as I look upon her face, longing for her to open her eyes and reveal those bright green orbs I've been dying to see for months. But I push that thought out of my mind as I yawn, and I feel my eyelids begin to get heavy as my body begs for the sleep it's been deprived of for days. And so, I fall asleep, my head on her bed as I hold her hand, not daring to let it go even in sleep as I mutter one last thing.
"Welcome home Sarah"
