POV the courier
We dropped Arthur off at Hidden Valley. As we walk down to the road that connects Goodsprings to Vegas. It wasn't fun cleaning this place of deathclaws.
"Be careful, I was never sure if Boone and I got all the Deathclaws or not?" I said jokingly. They both just look at me.
"Not funny, Six, not funny," Veronica says seriously. Look down. Slightly embarrassed. She then starts to language. I just look at her and sigh.
After about an hour or so, getting into the late afternoon. As we got back to Vegas. Since I've tried to make freeside less hostile. As far as to even give the kings so more formal combat training, walking back into lucky 38 I see Cass and Boone talking.
"We're back," I say happily. They turn to us.
"Oh hey, " Cass said awkwardly.
"You wouldn't want to know the day we've had," I say to her.
"Like what?" She asks.
"We've been in space" Veronica yell at them.
"WHAT!" They both scream simultaneously.
"I think I'll let these two to explain. I need a drink." I press a button on the lift.
"Wait, Six the NCR wants you at Hoover Dam." He says sharply.
"There can wait," I said as the doors close. Exiting to what I call the drinks room. Walking over to what's left of the whisky. I start to drink, I want through about three bottles before the lift doors opened again.
"Six you should really head to the dam" I hear Boone say. I turn and face the old sniper. His sunglasses reflect my image.
"I guess you're right. Grab your sniper you're coming with me then" I say putting the bottle down.
"Fine, it's in my room," he presses a button as we head down.
"One more thing. A couple of hours after you left a cat turned up." I turned to him confused.
"A cat I didn't think there were any cats in the Mojave?" I say questioningly.
"Well, there is. Lucy insisted that she take it to play with" he says to me.
"On her own?" I ask.
"No ED-E and Rex are with her"
"That reassuring" I sarcastically say. The doors open we step. Boone left to his room.
"Lucy" I call out a moment passes.
"In here" I hear her call from my room. I head in to see Lucy sitting on the foot of my bed. Stroking the cat.
"Hey, Lucy. You've got a new friend. I see." I say sitting down next to her. I look at the cat's name tag it reads goose.
"Goose. What an odd name for a cat." I then hear a whimper. I look in the corner to see rex and ED-E hiding in the corner.
"What's up with them?" I ask her.
"I don't think they like her very much. She scared them" all I could think was. What on earth could this cat do to scare them?
"Six we need to go" Boone called out from the hall.
"Okay, Kid, I've got to go now," I say to her getting up. Getting to ground leave. Just before leaving I stop in front of Cass, Veronica and Sophia.
"Hey, you lot couldn't go up to Lucy. That cat has somehow scared ED-E and rex" I say to them.
"sure six," cass says.
"Thank you" I yell as I leave the room.
I and Boone didn't speak much on the way to the dam. till we found an odd sight. Weapons laying on the ground discarded. No blood no Ashes.
"Boone, stay here and cover me if there's any trouble," I say to him pulling my revolver. Moving down I noticed that it's all pistols. It didn't look like an ambush point. Looking closer there was clearly some kind of battle here. Shell Casings. Most of the weapons where empty. Then I see it. A slight shimmer in the sands. I move over and start digging it up. A body. Pulling it level to me. I wave Boone down to me. A hole in the chest. It was already cauterized. Like whatever done this burned hot.
"What do you think Boone, energy weapon maybe?" I ask him.
"No energy weapons don't leave marks like this."
"We'll deal with it later once we've done at the dam I'll mark it on my pip-boy" after this we start off again arriving at the dam. As night starts to fall. The troops patrolling the dam. Heading deep into the dam I'm told to go find general Oliver he's here somewhere. It didn't take long to find him.
"General Oliver, you wanted me?" I asked the man. He stood up straightening his hat.
"Ah. We have been getting a lot of movement from Legion territory. I've got people on the watch. I need you to rally your robots" he ordered.
"I sure I can do that but I need something from you. Two things actually. I'm curious about a Ranger who helped to save me. I think arcade said his name was Edward." I say curiously.
"I'll look into the Ranger. What about the second one"  he says.
" on the way here we came across an odd sight. A bunch of weapons empty. We also found a body. With a large hole that went right through the body. It was already cauterized. Have you heard of anything like that?" I ask.
"Yes, I've had quite a few reports of similar injuries on dead bodies. We've marked the location on a map. This way." He said. Leading us to another room. An image of the Mojave on the wall. Three make on the map leading from Novac. Towards the dam.
"Where did you find the body, if you could mark it?" I grab a pin from the table. Pushing the pin on the spot It's clear that whatever doing this it shows whatever is doing this is heading straight to the dam.
"This doesn't look go does it?" The general said sarcastically.
"I'll go see if I can find whatever doing this. I suggest that you get this place on lockdown." I say to him. He starts to walk away. I gesture to Boone to follow me. Leaving the dam I stair at my pip-boys map.
"Hmmm, If this is right. The path is this way. I think." I say to him. We start on the path barely. When something suddenly hits the ground so hard that it sends dirt, dust, sand and rock everywhere. Leaving a small creator.
"<cough> what on earth? <cough>" I ask. I Unholster my revolver moving towards the object. Some soldiers had noticed as well and joined me, Boone, kept at a distance his sniper at the ready. A cloud of dust thick in the air. Blocking my vision. Then there's a yellow flash and a scream. And the dust settles. And I see Carol there.
"Carol are you okay?" I ask her. Then I see her eyes. And then I remembered what happened on the ship. An energy blast hitting me backwards. I'm down for a few moments, it's long enough for her to drop or even kill the soldiers.
"Six get up," Boone calls out. Getting up. I look to the sniper. For the first time, I see, fear in his face.
"I have located the target. Begin the assault" she said into a device on her.
Suddenly a loud booming sound looking up I see Kree ships to many to count.
"Boone back to the dam now," turning to run. I take another look at the crash site.
"Help, God please help me" I hear one of the soldiers call out. His Leg covered in blood. Carol above him looking to finish the job. I couldn't leave him.
"Boone I'll catch up. I need to help him." I say.
"What, no six don't" is all he said by the time I had left. Seeing the glow around carol intensify. The fear in the soldier face. I run up tackling carol. It doesn't have much of an impact but just enough so that she doesn't hit him. She knocks me aside. Boone runs up and grabs the soldier. Pulling him back. Carol moves to face them. I pull my revolver and fire at her getting her attention. She hits it right out of my hand. Then she hits me back. Boone had made it clear with the soldier. Dodging to the right as she tries to hit with an energy blast. Grabbing my gun off the floor and running back to the dam. She seems to not follow. Boone handed the injured man over to other soldiers. Ships landing just beyond the Valley that leads to the dam. You could just hear the army about to storm us. General Oliver joins us on the top of the dam.
"What the hell is going out here." He then looks up. You could see his jaw drop.
"Are those spaceships? This is an attack?" He asks me.
"No, I think it's an invasion. I really suggest that you get all the troops you can out here to fight." I say to him. he just stands there. I turn to him.
"Now damn it. Now" I snap at him. I quickly run into the dam. Shortly after, NCR soldiers span out, starting up sandbags and Barricades.
"Boone get up to the top of that Tower" I ordered to him. As he starts to climb you can start to see the Kree army start to approach. Hundreds possibly thousands. Good news is that they're flowing information rows of ten.
"At arms." The general yells. NCR troops start to move. I move back to him.
