Hold on
Hold on to me
'Cause I'm a little unsteady
A little unsteady
Mama, come here
Approach, appear
Daddy, I'm alone
'Cause this house don't feel like home
- Unsteady, X AmbassadorsThe car ride was silent. No one spoke a word. Not even Cyborg or Beast Boy. Beast Boy looked pissed about everything but he had that look on his face when I arrived. And it was really awkward when we were in the elevator. The only thing breaking the silence was the elevator music. I know that thing is brand new because we never had it when I was here.
"Ok, Titans," Robin said once the elevator doors opened. "Slade might have escaped and taken the vial but that doesn't mean -"
"What, Robin?" Beast Boy snapped. "Slade has been one step ahead of us. We've been tracking him for months and this was the only lead we've had. The one lead wasted and he got away again."
"Well, he wouldn't have gotten away if you didn't let your anger take control of you," Cyborg said.
Beast Boy glared at him. "Like you wouldn't have done the same thing."
"Please, enough of the fighting," Starfire said but they ignored her.
"He was spreading lies about her, Cyborg!"
"We all knew she joined the Avengers," Robin said.
"That's not the lie I was talking about!" Beast Boy shouted and that shocked me. Beast Boy isn't one to yell like that. The room went quiet after that. Beast Boy looked at the team until his eyes found mine. He sighed before he marched past us and left.
I watched him leave. I couldn't help but feel the guilt in the pit of my stomach. "Was he always like that?" I asked.
"For the first month after you left, yeah," Cyborg said. "I thought he was getting better. He seems more like himself this week."
"And me coming here ruined that?" I concluded.
Starfire shook her head. "Beast Boy never really had the closure."
I nodded. "Let me go talk to him."
I pulled my hood up and walked towards his room. Even after all this time, I still remember this place. I found my way to his room and knocked on the door. I didn't hear anything.
"Beast Boy?" I called out softly. I knocked again and he didn't answer. I sighed before opening up a small threshold for me to talk through. "Beast Boy."
I found Beast Boy on his bed. His fist clenched on his side as he stared at the pile of his dirty laundry. I started walking closer to him and noticed that his eyes were a bit glossy. I made my way over and sat next to him. Nothing said between us for what seemed like ours. Beast Boy taking deep breaths as his fist tightened.
