The soft crunch of leaves whisper through my ears, while the soft hum of your voice lingers around my being. The skies darken as the sun hides from my sight. I can feel your warm breath on my cold neck and your rough hands around my small waist. My body leans into yours, but I fall. As I free fall, the cold welcomes me. I embrace it and let it fill my lungs. I can't breathe, but your lips crash into mine and I breathe you in. The taste of you fills my mouth and your soul begins to warm mine. Light is filling the sky and the birds are starting to chirp. Your hands run through my hair as the coyotes howl. I can sense your leaving and I hold on just a little longer. The cold is coming back as your body leaves a hole in mine. Where are you going? Please stay. I need you. Clouds cover the sun and the hunger of night takes over my senses. I can't see you anymore. Something tugs at my heart and I feel it slowly leaving my body, following you. No, don't take it! My skin is cold to the touch. My soul dies and I become part of the Earth, but you'll come see me again won't you? Your memory of me fades and I become what they call a statue. Birds land on my shoulders and drink the tears I cry. Flowers wilt at my touch and branches soon cover the little amount of light I received. Darkness is all my life will ever be, because you took the light with you. Where are you? Are you sharing your warmth with another? Do they have my heart? Stone crumbles and my hand falls to the hard ground I stand on. Bit by bit I turn to dust. My existence fades with time and I become a mere tale. Children whisper about me and how I haunt these woods. They play with my remains until the wolves howl and they run home. A low hum echos through the trees and the birds chirp to your song. As you kneel before my crumbled stone, you lay gold at my feet. The clouds part and branches retract. I see your beautiful face smile as I come to life. Your gentle touch soothes my soul as I lean into you. My eyes close as you breathe into me. A loud crack of thunder booms overhead and I open my eyes. Sweat runs down my face as I stare into the darkness of my room. I look beside me, but I'm alone. A dream, or a nightmare. Fate will decide.
