Where have you been?

The world is hazy and dull.

I'm looking around, but my vision is as dim as night.

A scream echoes throughout the forest of whispers.

The birds fly from their nests.

Their wings fill the empty space around me.

My body is shaking and I can no longer see my breath.

The fog is clearing, but the long arms block out the sun.

The wind rushes past me as if it was running away from someone.

An icy finger reaches out and pulls me into the wind.

My feet are dragging on the damp grass.

I look up to see a monster.

Its eyes are dull and void.

It has no heart or soul.

Then its voice rings in my ears as I fall to the ground.

The darkness swarms my mind and I succumb to it.

The night gently lifts me as if I was a child and it was my mother.

Where have you been?

I've been here all along.

Where have you been?

You left me.

Where have you been?

Now where have you been?

The monster screams in pain.

Its voice rattles in my small skull.

The sun rays shine through the waving trees.

My soft and fragile skin is warm to the touch.

The birds are singing as the monster leaves with the wind.

The chains around my heart still tug with each step it takes.

I am just as free as slave.

The monster made me who I am.

I am the monster.
