Miruko wiped away her tears. "Thank you for coming. We're here today to remember our good friend Hawks. He was a great man but a foolish one. May his soul rest in peace.

Kamui Wood and Best Jeans closed their eyes and prayed.

"Can you all stop pretending I'm dead?"

Hawks spoke from his seat. Miruko burst out laughing. She laughed so hard that tears were streaming from her eyes. Hawks' reckless behaviour was the funniest thing she had heard all day. "Flirting with Endeavour's daughter? It's only a matter of time before he catches up! This man has been looking for you."

Best Jeanist pulled out a comb. He spoke as he styled his hair, "Hundreds of women in the world, and you choose to play with a Todoroki."

Kamui patted Hawk's back. "Nice to know you. I'll come to your real funeral."

He groaned and leaned back against the chair. "I can't believe I'm being hunted like this."

Kamui sipped his drink. "I mean, the daughter of hero number one and hero number two? Forget Japan. This will be world news. No wonder Endeavour didn't want this to get out. How are you going to handle this?"

Hawks rose from his chair. "Well, there's only one way to find out."

"Where are you going?"

"To meet Fuyumi."

The rabbit girl grinned. "Are you two going to make out?"

"MIRUKO!" Best Jeanist and Kamui Wood shouted at the obscenity.

"What? I'm just asking."

"Endeavour will break my neck if he finds out. As much as it's fun to tease him, I still want to live." Hawks smiled. "I'm thinking dinner and a glass of drink in hand."

"How romantic."

The jeans lover asked him a question. "Are you serious about getting close to her?"

Hawks was playful. "Who knows? Time to find out."

He walked away and left the place. The three heroes watched as he closed the door. Miruko thought about the outcome of his games. She came to only one conclusion. "He's going to regret this, isn't he?"

Both heroes answered at the same time. "Obviously."

Fuyuki was relieved when the school bell rang. After the charity party, things had been hectic. Natsuo asked about her condition. Shouto checked on her too often. Endeavour was out "taking out the garbage". It was unbearable, but she was grateful for her father's action. Endeavour suppressed the media and journalists from spreading the news. The incident with Hawks was sealed, and no one talked about it. If it came out, the stress would kill her. Fuyumi could not cope with questions from her colleagues and students.

"Miss Todoroki?"

A little girl with braided hair stood behind her. She was in her class. The girl handed her a piece of paper and skipped to her class. Fuyumi read the note and felt a headache coming on.

"Wait for you at the back of the school."

She came to the place and was not amused. Hawks had been waiting for her. "Good afternoon. The children in this preschool sure are cheerful."

"What are you doing here?"

"Don't get angry! I was out of line yesterday. So I wanted to apologise by inviting you for dinner."

Fuyumi raised his eyebrows. He was more suspicious than Natsuo when he hid the porn magazine. She still did not trust him. Even Hawks could see that.

"I can't, I have to work."

"Tomorrow is a holiday."

"I have to make dinner for my family."

"They can buy a takeaway."

Fuyumi was irritated. She was tired and could think of no more reasons to refuse him. Hawks decides to use his secret weapon. He takes a reservation card out of his jacket. "Well, I guess I have to go alone. It'll be a lonely dinner."

Fuyumi noticed the restaurant's name. Her eyes sparkled with interest. "Isn't that the newly opened restaurant in the famous hotel?"

"I saved one of the chef's children from an incident earlier. As a thank you, he gave me a free meal."

Hawks did his research. Fuyumi had talked to her friend about the restaurant. However, getting a reservation was difficult. Every time she called for dinner, the place was fully booked.

"It's only once! When will you get the chance to eat fancy?" He came closer and whispered in her ear. "A nice girl like you deserves a break, right? Forget your family."

Fuyumi's head twitched in conflict. There was a half-truth in his words. As the daughter of a hero, she carried the responsibility of her mother. The white-haired woman was tired of taking care of the family. She wanted a break from the hard life. However, Fuyumi resisted. She pushed Hawks away.

"I-I can't!"

The man was not surprised by the refusal. He had prepared the last resort. Hawks handed Fuyumi a leaflet from the restaurant.

A limited edition parfait was written on the paper.

Her heart screamed with guilt. "Forgive me, everyone! I was tempted by the dessert!"

Fuyumi admitted defeat in a second. "Fine... I accept your offer."

Hawks clapped his hands. "Okay! Then it is settled. We'll have dinner tonight!"

"Will you pick me up then?"

"No!" Hawks shuddered at the thought of meeting an enraged Endeavour. "We're going now!"

"Pardon?"

Hawks carried Fuyumi bridal style in one sweep. Fuyumi was surprised. "Wha- Put me down!"

"We'll visit the salon and the wardrobe first. A formal dinner requires a formal dress, right?"

They flew into the air. Fuyumi complained at first, but she changed her mind after seeing the landscape. The blue sky, the cityscape and the whole scenery were breathtaking. She had not expected the city to be so beautiful. Hawks smiled at her bright expression.

They stopped at his hairdresser's shop. While waiting for Fuyumi, Hawks changed into a formal suit. When they finished with Fuyumi, Hawks found himself mesmerised. She was stunning in a long gown. She was not called cold beauty for nothing.

Fuyumi fidgeted with her appearance. "Am I allowed to wear this? The dress looks expensive."

"Consider it part of my apology." He smiled at her. "You look great anyway."

She giggled. "So do you."

He handed her a long coat. "I hope you're not cold. We're going to fly again."

"But why? Aren't you tired?"

"Well, I don't want the rumour to spread. Besides, it will be hard for you, too."

The excitement made her forget it for a moment. "Thank you for thinking of my welfare."

They went into the restaurant and got the best seat. The chef showed Hawks his gratitude by shaking his hands again and again. When the food arrived, her eyes sparkled. She took a bite from the plate and beamed. The food was delicious. She squealed as the limited edition parfait arrived on the table.

Hawks raised his glass. "A toast to the night!"

She raised her glass and clinked it with Hawks.

Everything was going according to his plan... or so he thought.
