Chapter 13 : "You don't stand a chance."

Serena's POV

A little while after Ash left Serena...

"That pendant is so beautiful!"

I passed by a jewellery store and saw a beautiful pendant on display. It was pink and was shaped as a heart. Besides that, it could open and you could a picture in it. 

'Since I've got nothing to do anyway, I might as well check this store out.'

"Congratulations!" As soon as I walked in, a worker at the store shouted.

"Huh?"

"You are the number 99,999 customer ever in this shop. We opened a few days ago, so there isn't really a lot of customers yet."

"Umm...that's nice..."

"It is! So for winning, you can get this pairing pendant for free!"

I opened my hand as she motioned for me to do so and I took the pendants in her hands. When I looked at it, I realised it was the exact same one I was just looking at. Except that there is also another one. The other one was blue-shaped star, and it also had the same features as the pink one.

"This is pairing pendants! The pink one is for a girl, and the blue one is for a boy. You can give the blue one to your boyfriend, or if you don't have one, give it to your someone special. I'm sure whoever he is, he will definitely love this!"

As she said those words, I started to think. 'If I give this blue one to Ash, will he like it?'

I smiled at her happily. "Thank you!"

"No problem! By the way, what's your name?"

"I'm Serena."'

"Cool! I'm Athena!"

"It's nice to meet you Athena! I hope we can see each other again soon. I'd love to talk to you more, but I have to go now. It's a pleasure meeting you though."

"The pleasure's all mine. See you soon!"

After saying out farewells, I walked out of the store. While waiting for Ash, I walked around Viridian City. There were all kinds of shops there. I explored the whole city while also eating some food I got from a person selling food. Before i knew it, it was already dusk. When I noticed this, I started walking back to the hotel. As I was on my way back to the Indigo Plateau, my thoughts suddenly drifted back to Ash. 

'He said he would be fine, but is he really okay? Speaking of which, it is pretty late now. What if he got lost, or something happened? If something happened to him, I will never forgive myself! Maybe I should go search for him...'

Before I knew it, I was standing in front of the forest Ash went into. As the sun was now down, the forest gave off an even more dark and mysterious vibe. It almost looked...forbidden. I almost turned around and went back to the hotel. But I knew better than to betray a friend. After all, Ash has helped me lots of times. Before I could change my mind, I was walking in the forest. The trees were tall, covering any light that could've shone through.

Suddenly, the bushes beside me started rustling. It scared me so much I even jumped. 'What could be in there?' As i was thinking, something jumped from the bushes and landed in front of me. I almost screamed when i saw that it was just a wild Caterpie. 'Phew...' 

I bent down to pet the wild Caterpie who was surprisingly extremely friendly. After petting it for a while, I stood up and started to search for Ash again.

It was starting to get really dark, so I sent Braixen out. 

"Braixen, could you please make a light for me. I can't see clearly in the dark. Braixen! The surroundings suddenly lit up, and it was easier to see. "Thanks Braixen."
