A few weeks had passed since the incident at the forsaken dorm, but the change that occurred afterward made the other employees treat Yoongi like a god.
"Hyung! I made you a brownie as a sign of my eternal gratitude." Jungkook presented the treat with a bow.
"Jungkook, I already told you not to waste our supplies like that. And besides, we don't know if they've stopped for good." Yoongi said, becoming slightly agitated at the boys' antics. Even Jin had been complimenting him a lot more and Hoseok was extra cheerful.
The girl from dorm C206 hadn't called in an order since Yoongi went over there. And while Yoongi had been glad he helped, he still wasn't sleeping much and the stress on his shoulders was piling up. The constant bother of the younger boys wasn't exactly helping even though Yoongi knew they meant well.
Jungook pouted, oblivious to the damage he did with that single expression. "Okay, hyung. Sorry, I'll stop now." He walked away, slightly dejected and Yoongi mentally ripped his hair out in frustration.
"It's alright, Jungkook. Look, I'm eating it see?" He took a bite of the brownie with a grin no one would have ever guessed was fake. It probably would have been very delicious had Yoongi not damaged every taste bud on his tongue from all the coffee he was drinking lately. So sadly, the reaction to the taste had to be 50% faked as well.
Jungkook smiled softly, but Yoongi felt genuine happiness radiating off of the younger boy. "Thanks, hyung." He walked out of the kitchen to greet a new customer who had just entered.
Yoongi sighed and yawned as he rubbed his tired eyes. He used to hate faking emotions, however it had become a sad second nature to him by now. He got back to boxing up some sweetbread and began tidying up a bit as the café would be closing in about an hour.
————————
Jungkook came into the kitchen a few minutes later and clipped a piece of paper to the orders rack. "One iced americano with a turkey sandwich on wheat with everything on it but pickles, and tomatoes," Jungkook read off, and Yoongi was already preparing the ingredients. He began making the sandwich and Jungkook placed the coffee on the counter next to him. "Hyung, I need to take a quick bathroom break, I'll be right back." Yoongi nodded and the boy ran off rather quickly.
When the sandwich was finished, Yoongi picked up the plate and the coffee and walked out to serve it.
Table 12, the paper had said.
Yoongi made his way over to the table near the front windows in the corner. "Good afternoon, here is your sandwich and coffee." He set the plate and cup down and bowed as he placed both hands together in front of himself. "Is there anything else I can get you today?" He looked at the man in front of him and put his service face on. Not a full smile but not a blank expression. Pleasant.
The man opened his mouth to say something it stopped short, squinting a the waiter. Yoongi held his expression but glanced off to the side a couple times as the customer seemingly studied him. His tan skin crinkled up around his eyes as they squinted at Yoongi. The man pursed his lips in concentration and a prominent dimple showed itself. Yoongi cleared his throat. "Uh, sir?"
The man seemed to snap out of a trance but still kept his eyes on Yoongi. "Yoongi? Min Yoongi?" He questioned, hesitant but clear.
Yoongi blinked, "Uh, yes?"
"It's me! Namjoon, Kim Namjoon." He said, smiling brightly, both dimples now making an appearance. However, Yoongi couldn't do the same, he didn't know who this man was.
"I'm sorry but I'm not sure I—"
"We took music theory together in high school." Namjoon said. He chuckled shortly after. "I suppose I wouldn't recognize me either." He looked down at his lap, messing with the hem of his shirt. "Back then I had an... interesting style. I um.. I had a-an Afro. And— and sunglasses and I went by Rap—"
"Rapmon!" Yoongi exclaimed, chuckling in realization. "Wow yeah I didn't recognize you, it has been a while. You look good, much better— uh, style." He rubbed his nape.
Namjoon laughed and nodded. "Yep, I think so too. How've you been? Still going for a music career?"
Yoongi shook his head. "Went for a little more of a relaxed career. Photography. Don't get me wrong, I've still been working on songs, just less."
Namjoon nodded. "Makes sense, music is a hard industry. Glad you chose something you wanted though. You did like photography back in high school."
Yoongi chuckled and nodded. "Well it was nice seeing you but I've got to get back to work, say hello to Moni for me!" He laughed as he headed back to the kitchen.
"Will do!" Namjoon called after him.
Yoongi finished sweeping up the rest of the kitchen and wiped his forehead with his sleeve. He sighed and put the broom away, untying his apron and getting ready to clock out.
Jungkook came out from the restroom and sighed. "Thanks hyung," he said, leaning on the countertop. Yoongi nodded in response. Jungkook's head turned up when the sound of bells chiming came from the door, signaling a new customer. He went to go help them.
As Yoongi washed his hands, his mind strayed back to the old friend he'd just met. He was glad he'd found a sort of peace, less angry and more sure of himself. He smiled softly as he dried his hands on a towel.
It has been a while since I've worked on music...
"Uh, hyung?" Came an unsure voice from behind him.
Yoongi turned, met with a sort of nervous Jungkook, chewing on his lip. "Is something wrong?" Yoongi asked.
"There's a, um. There's a girl here, she asked for you." He hesitated. "She seemed kind of angry, said you knew her?" Jungkook was fiddling with his shirt nervously, his eyes unsure and cautious.
Yoongi wracked his brain. He didn't even know many girls. "What's her name?"
"Park Jihyun?" Jungkook said.
Yoongi didn't know any Park Jihyun.
Who was looking for him?
