"Okay, here's your uniform. You only get one because, well, we're kind of on a budget. Please take care of it. The staff room is where you'll take your breaks, uh, you know where it is. Breaks are only 30 minutes long, an hour if you have an emergency. And--"
"Hoseok, slow down." Jin chuckles, putting a hand on the frantic boy. "It's only his first day here, don't scare him away," he added with a soft smile.
The day Jiwoo quit, Yoongi had managed to talk to Hoseok about a job. He explained his situation and afterward, it was hard to believe Hoseok had been crying. He'd bear-hugged Yoongi, nearly crushing his ribs in the process, and told him he could start the next day.
Now, as Saturday was here, Yoongi stands before Jin and Hoseok, receiving the run-down of his new job.
Jin, who Yoongi had found out recently was the owner of the café, was a kind-hearted man who seemed to care about this place very much. He told Yoongi he graduated college with a masters degree in the Culinary Arts and came back to his old campus to own a bakery-slash-coffee shop. He knew first hand how hard college life could be and wanted to be able to offer a little help or even happiness to the students. Even if it was just a bit of caffeine.
Hoseok was like his little brother. Jin treated him as such. Calming him down when he began to ramble or get a bit too hyper. Giving him hugs and ruffling his hair. And just, in general, being kind and loving towards the younger boy.
They also told Yoongi about two other employees who worked there. Jungkook and Taehyung were their names. They didn't have set shifts, which was part of the problem at the café, but instead came into work whenever they had a few hours to spare. They were only required to come in at least three days a week.
However, the uncertain schedules didn't affect the way Jin and Hoseok spoke about two other boys.
They talked about them like they'd known each other for years. Sometimes stopping and laughing for a second at an inside joke they must've had amongst themselves.
They were like a family.
A special bond that couldn't be broken if anyone tried.
Yoongi wanted that too.
"Oh!" Hoseok says suddenly like he's been shocked. "One question, can you bake?"
Yoongi stares back at Hoseok blankly. "Um, no."
Hoseok deflates. "Oh, well..."
He seems to recharge with energy again. "Would you like to learn?" He asks, clapping his hands together.Yoongi looks to Jin, who only shrugs his shoulders and chuckles helplessly. "Would you like to?"
Yoongi stares at the space between the two boys for a moment, thinking.
He had never baked before.
Okay, yes he had, but the experience hadn't ended well.
Maybe if I just...learn?
It wouldn't hurt to try.
Well yes, it would. But I need this job..."Um...sure?" He says, his eyes flickering between the two men before him.
It looks Hoseok is going to blast off like a rocket. "Really?! Awesome!" He exclaims, gently pushing Yoongi towards the kitchen. "You're going to love it, I promise. We'll teach you everything you need to know. Well, Jin-Hyung will. I'm not exactly an expert but this one time I made a muffin so big, it was almost the size of my head! It was so cool. Oh! And this other time--" Hoseok is going 90 miles an hour. Yoongi wonders how he might do as a rapper.
Yoongi looks back at Jin with a silent plea for help in his eyes. But Jin only laughs softly before following behind them.
This one. Jin thinks to himself.
This one is already family.------------------------
