(A/N: I'm sorry if I don't update that often :/ it's my first year in high school and it's a lot more stressful than I thought it would be. I won't abandon this fic though.)

January

Armin's POV

It was fucking freezing. Even with the huge coat I was wearing, my arms were numb. I didn't have a car so I had to walk home two miles from school.

This was my last year at this miserable school before I could finally leave and go to USC.

        And finally meet Eren.

Eren was pretty much my only friend at this point. Sure, Jean and Marco were really nice, but the last time the three us us hung out together, we went to a drive-in movie and they ended up having sex in the back of Marco's car. It was awkward for everyone. They weren't exactly quiet.

I wiped that thought from my head. Not a great memory for me.

I shook the snow away from my head and pulled the door open to a coffee shop. I always got a drink on my way home.

"What can I get you?" a cute blonde girl asked me. I got the same thing I get every time and sat down to wait.

The same people were usually here when I came. I said hi to an old couple I knew before they called my name.

My coffee was insanely hot, causing me to spit some into a snow drift.

It was still freezing. I don't mean cold. I mean freezing. The ends of my hair had ice on them. The strong winds weren't helping very much either.

Maybe a half hour later, I got home due to all the damn ice.

I threw my backpack into the kitchen and walked into my room and sat at my desk.

My desk was littered with badly photoshopped pictures of me and Eren standing together. My favorite one was one we made when we were thirteen. Eren accidentally photoshopped his arm and leg off. I wouldn't stop laughing and I called him 'Stumpy'. He got mad and erased both of my arms and that only made me laugh harder.

One thing led to another, and we were both heads floating in front of the Grand Canyon.

I grabbed my laptop and opened Skype. Eren was my one and only contact. I clicked the video call button. Eren picked up on the second ring.

"Armin, hi, don't say anything, I really gotta talk." he blurted. I nodded and grabbed a hair tie from my desk drawer.

"So, I really wanna tell Grisha about you in the hopes of getting to see you sooner, but I have no idea how he'd take it. Do you think you could help me figure out how to break it to him?" Eren said, holding up a blank notepad.

"If you think I'm better at telling people things, you're wrong. I still haven't told anyone about our friendship. At least you've told Mikasa." I pulled my hair back away from my face.

"Do you think we're over thinking this? I mean, it's actually not that big of a deal that I met you online. And I'm at least 99% sure you're not going to kill me, so I'd call that good." he pointed out.

"We always could just wait until college. It's not that much longer." I told him.

"Oh, that reminds me of something." Eren leaned away from his computer and I heard papers shuffling. He leaned back into my view, holding a paper for me to see. I leaned slightly forward to see what he was holding.

It was a college acceptance letter.
