"We should go do a ground check first." Carol suggested upon arrival to the planet where Nebula assured them Thanos had retired to.
"I'll go with you." Merly unbuckled her seatbelt and made her way into the back of the ship. "I'll go east, you go west." Carol told her. "Just a small perimeter, then we work our way back."
Once the two were outside, Rocket shut the door remotely and watched as Merly and Carol went in separate directions.
They searched for guards, ships, soldiers or sensors but there was none. It still didn't make them feel any more confident, especially Merly. She knew something had definitely happened to the stones, but there was the remaining question of what happened to Thanos's massive army.
She prayed that maybe what she felt was wrong and that the stones were used to destroy his army instead. But deep down she knew that wasn't true at all.
"I can't find anything." Carol informed her. She was absolutely dumbfounded by it. "Why isn't there anything ?" Carol thought that maybe Merly had some answers but the woman was just as lost as anyone.
Merly was down on the ground since there was no threat but her. She leaned on a tree in the middle of nowhere and contemplated in silence. "Go back for the others. I'll stay down here to guide y'all. " She reluctantly ordered. "We have a chance, so we should take it."
Carol obeyed and made her way back to the Benatar.
While waiting, Merly walked around the fairly quiet forest. She kept on walking until she reached an opening in the middle of the trees. The patch of grass was singed, covered in ash and burnt wood chips.
She bent down and touched the ground with the tips of her fingers.
"Raven, we're preparing for landing." Rocket called. "Where the hell are you?"
Merly wiped the ashes off and made her way back to the others.
She guided the Benatar down safely and quietly. Careful not to alert Thanos.
