Peace at last-Charles POV

I was tossing and turning. Something wasn't right, but I couldn't tell what it was. Sleeping wasn't really an option at this point. I hadn't had a good sleep in 3 weeks, and my body was so desperately begging for it. My mind was buzzing. Ever since Erik showed up I couldn't find it in me to just calm my mind.

I opened my eyes in defeat and glanced over at my alarm clock.

" 3:30, are you kidding me," I said, rubbing my eyes as I sat up. I didn't think I could go back to sleep, so I decided to get up. I rolled out of bed and put on a shirt and shorts. I opened my door and walked quietly down to the kitchen.

The floorboards creaked beneath my feet as I made my way through the halls. Nobody was awake yet. Well, why would they, it was 3:30 in the morning, I'm the only person awake at this hour.

I arrived in the kitchen turning on the small lights as I entered. My eyes squinted shut at the sudden burst of light coming into view. I blindly pulled the fridge doors open and reached out to grab a cup of pudding. Pudding was my go-to snack. I don't know why I just always found comfort in chocolate pudding.

I grabbed a spoon and sat down at the bar. I dug into my pudding. Soon I felt the need for sleep take over me and I passed out.

" Charles."

I groaned not wanting to leave the peaceful sleep that I was in.

" Charles wake up." I heard again. I pulled my eyes open a bit and saw the blurred outline of someone. I sat up and rubbed my eyes letting them adjust to the light.

I'm wasn't in the kitchen anymore. I clearly remember falling asleep in the kitchen. I looked around and saw that I was on the couch in my study. I glanced to my left and was met with a pair of greenish-grey eyes, and a sharky grin.

I let out a small yelp and my body tensed.

" I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."

I finally came to my senses and realized it was just Erik. My cheeks started to heat up and my heart started to race a little.

" It's quite alright Erik," I said looking up at him, " I was just a little startled. I don't remember falling asleep here." I rubbed my face and turned Erik.

" Oh yeah," he said as he ran a hand through his hair, " I heard something downstairs, and I went to go look. I found you asleep in the kitchen, pudding cup and all. So I decided to take you in here so you could sleep comfortably." He rubbed the back of his neck and looked at the ground.

" Oh, thank you," I said. I was a little embarrassed that Erik found me asleep in the kitchen, and I felt bad for waking him up.

" May I ask what time you found me?"

" It was around 4:00 I believe."

" Oh." I started to fidget with my sleeves. My stomach was starting to churn. There was an unsettling feeling building in my throat, and I didn't know why.

" Why were you asleep in the kitchen?" Erik asked after a long silence, breaking the trans that I was in.

" If I'm being honest with you Erik, I don't know. I couldn't sleep, and I guess my body just shut down."

" Oh. Well, I'm glad I found you before Alex or Sean did." Erik laughed nervously.

" Yeah you're right," I laughed, " They would have probably dumped me in the pond," I said. Erik chuckled and put his hand on my thigh. My body tensed up and I was starting to feel very uncomfortable. There was something about him that just made me want to pull myself closer to him. I looked up into his beautiful green eyes, and I started to lose myself in them.

Erik makes my life better. I always seem to feel better with him around. It's not that I don't enjoy the company of Raven or Hank, but there is something that Erik does to me that I can't figure out.

" You know I think I found the reason why I couldn't sleep these last few weeks," I said as I laid my hand on top of his.

"Really?" he asked, "And what is the reason?" He was staring into my eyes, and I found myself looking into his. My cheeks were getting hot and my chest felt like a sack of bricks had been dumped down my throat.

" Well, you see, it's kinda hard to explain," I said, my leg started bouncing beneath our hands. I saw his cheeks turn a slight shade of pink, and I knew that mine was worse than his.

" Oh," he said, " Well, can you show me?" he asked. His voice seemed to be taunting me. I felt the need to scream all of my feelings at him, but I couldn't. I was too scared.

" Well," I said quietly. I didn't know what was happening. I wanted to kiss him. I wanted to love him, but I didn't know if he felt the same way. I don't want to ruin our friendship, but I also don't want to be just friends.

" You know what, Screw it." I blurted out, I leaped up off the couch and attacked Erik pulling him down on top of me. I smashed my lips onto his and pulled his face closer to mine. His body froze for a second before he melted into the kiss and pulled me closer.

We broke apart, breathing heavily. I looked into his green eyes and smiled. He returned that smile with his sharky grin and ran a hand through my hair.

" You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that," he said as we sat up.

" Really?" I asked. " I had no idea how I felt until last night if I'm being honest." I laughed a little. My cheeks were hot and red and my head was spinning. Erik laughed and took my hand in his.

" Charles, I think I love you." He said.

" I think I love you too." We both smiled, our faces inches apart. He pulled me in for another kiss. This one was softer than the first.

" Well, I think we should go down for breakfast. It's almost 9:00." Erik said trying to stand up off the couch.

" Nah. I would much rather stay here with you," I said as I laid down taking Erik with me

" Hmm," he said, " I think I agree with you." He smirked and I pulled him close to me.

The rest of the morning was amazing. Erik and I cuddled together in my study. Before I knew it we were both asleep. My small frame pulled close to his much larger one. And for the first time in a long time, I felt at peace.
