Rainy Day

The house shook with a loud rumble. Charles looked up from his book just in time to see a flash of lightning bolt across the sky. He always loved the rain. He loved the way it fell against the window sill and rattled the houses when it thundered. He loved how It made him feel calm even on the most stressful days, and how it soothed his nerves. So there he was in his study, with the windows wide open just listening to the rain. It thundered again and Charles felt a familiar mind approaching. There was a knock on the door.

"Come in," he said. The door creaked open.

"I hope I'm not bothering you," Erik said, still standing by the door. Unsure if he should go closer.

"Nonsense. You are always welcome Erik." He put his book down and motioned for Erik to come sit with him. Erik made his way over to Charles and sat across from him.

"So what do I owe this lovely visit too?" Charles asked. Getting up to pour himself and Erik a drink.

"I don't really know to be honest," Erik said taking the drink from Charles. "I guess I was bored."

"Well it's always nice to spend time with you," Charles said sitting back down. It thundered again.

"I've always loved the rain," Charles said. Another round of thunder boomed across the sky followed by a flash of lightning. "It always made me feel calm." He took a swig of his drink then stood up. He walked over to the round glass doors, and as a bolt of lightning flew across the sky, he pushed the doors open.

"Charles, what are you doing?" Erik asked standing up from his seat.

"Going outside," he said. He turned around and walked over to Erik. He grabbed his hand and tried to pull him to the open doors.

"I'm not going out there," Erik said, pulling his hand away from Charles.

"Oh come on," Charles said, grabbing his hand again, "you don't want me to be lonely do you." He gave Erik his best puppy dog eyes. Erik was unable to ignore Charles and soon gave in. Curse his bright blue eyes.

"Fine," Erik grumbled, "But if I get wet I'll kill you." He let Charles lead him out to the terrace. They stood under the extended roof and admired the rain. Charles put an arm around Erik's waist.

"Is this so bad?" He asked, looking up at Erik.

"I guess not," he said, putting an arm around Charles' shoulder. There was another bang of thunder and a flash of lightning, but the rain was becoming lighter. The sun was trying to peak its way through the clouds.

"We should do this more often," Charles said, moving out of the cover.

"Yes we should," Erik replied, joining Charles by the railing. Together they stood and watched as the clouds moved away and the sun started to show through the clouds. Erik soon found himself looking down at Charles.

"Erik why are you staring at me?" he asked turning to look at him. Erik didn't answer. He pulled up Charles' chin and moved his face down closer to his. They were inches apart when suddenly the door flew open.

"Charles, the basement flooded," Raven came bounding through the room. She stopped when she saw Erik and Charles so close to each other. The two boys quickly sprang apart.

"Oh, am I disturbing something," She said, starting to feel very uncomfortable. Charles nodded slightly and Raven started to back out of the room. Once she was gone Charles turned back to Erik.

"I'm so sorry Erik that was embarrassing," he said. Erik laughed and pulled Charles close to him again.

"It's okay," he said, "But now we have to deal with Raven asking us weird questions." Charles let out a small chuckle and pulled Erik's lips onto his own. They broke apart.

"If this is how every rainy day is going to be. I don't think I'll ever leave." Erik said, smiling at Charles.

"Oh trust me, I won't let you leave," he smiled, pulling Erik into another kiss.
