Cas marked his calendar. Today's the day. The inevitable day. The worst day of his life.

He drove there in the Impala. He would've flown, but he lost that ability to his humanity. Tears clouded his vision. He knew it wasn't over. But it still made him so sad.

He walked into Dean's room. Dean looked up at him and smiled.

"Hey, angel." He rasped.

"Dean. You and I both know it's time."

"No, angel. I want to stay here as long as I can. I want to be able to see your beautiful face."

"Dean, I made a deal with Chuck. I will be there with you. I promise." A tear fell down his cheek. Dean weakly wiped it away with his thumb.

"Why is it you get to stay young and not me?" He chuckled, the laughs turning into coughs.

"Dean, it's time, and you know it. You've lasted for ninety six years now. It's time to pull the plug."

"I can't go. I don't wanna go."

The whole ordeal made Cas sob. "Dean, it'll be okay. I'll be there for you. Sam knew when it was his time, why can't you follow his example?" Dean winced at the memory. His poor baby brother.

"I never thought this would happen to me. Never considered it, never thought it a possibility," A tear rolled down his cheek. "I'm scared, Castiel."

Cas shuddered. It had been years since Dean used his full name.

"I promise you, I will see you in heaven. Please, Dean, don't keep doing this." Dean looked up at him, his green eyes just as vibrant as they were over fifty years ago.

"You marked the calendar, didn't you?"

Cas bit his lip. He nodded. His tears kept spilling over uncontrollably.

"You have to let go, Dean."

"If you're so sure that we'll see each other again, why are you crying so much?"

Cas smiled. "Tears of joy. Happy crying."

"You'll say just about anything to make me feel better, won't you?"

Cas laughed. "Pretty much." He caressed Dean's wrinkled face in his hand, unable to believe this day had come. Dean closed his eyes.

"I'm ready." He muttered. Cas smiled and kissed him one last time.

"I love you, Dean."

Dean looked up at him weakly. "I love you too, angel."

The doctor came in. Cas turned to him, wiping away his tears. "He's ready."

Dr. McCoy blinked, unable to believe his ears. Dean was the most stubborn man in existence. "Is there anyone we should contact? Friends, family?"

"There is just one person. Emily Winchester and her family. Tell her that her father is ready to move one."

Dr. McCoy nodded. "Are you sure you are ready, mentally?"

"I'll be fine. Because I know that Dean won't be truly gone. I'll always be with him."

"Goodbye, angel." Dean rasped from behind them.

Flatline.

Cas turned. Dean wasn't breathing. He felt like his whole world just collapsed around him. His Dean Winchester was gone.

"Dean?" He whispered, more tears threatening to flow.

Some nurses came in and one of them had to hold him back. He realized he wasn't ready. He knew he'd see Dean again, but it didn't help the ache he felt in his heart. He wanted to spend as much time with Dean on earth as possible. This wasn't right. This was so wrong.
