Chapter Seventeen

I woke up, hearing the soft sound of birds chirping. I just rolled over onto my stomach, and put my hand out, looking at the beautiful ring that Derek gave me only yesterday. Yep, yesterday was magical. Suddenly, i felt the bed sink down slightly right next to me, and i felt Derek wrap his arm around my back. I turned my head and gave him a little kiss.

"Well, gotta go" he said as he jumped outta bed.

"What? Why?" I asked, turning around.

"Gotta go work on that project" he replied, slipping a tee shirt on. I rolled over and slipped my crop top on and put on my extra soft pyjama pants, and followed him downstairs.

"Can i watch?" I asked as we walked down the stairs.

"No, cause its a surprise all for you baby." He replied.

"Well i still am" i said as we walked out the door.

Suddenly, a car pulled over in front of the house, and of course i recognised this car. It was Alicia's!!! She was my best friend in primary school and high school. She stepped out of the car, along with her new boyfriend Lachlan.

"ALICIA!!!" I squealed, as i ran over to her and hugged her tightly. "Oh, my god! What are you doing here?!" I asked, excitedly.

"Well, you told me you got a new house, and when you described it, i had to come and see you!! Oh, and when you told me you had a new boyfriend!" She laughed.

"Lachlan!" I laughed as i went over and hugged him.

"Alexis! Its great to see you!" He laughed. I pulled away, and went and stood next to Derek as soon as he walked over.

"Hey I'm Derek" he said as he shook both of their hands.

"Im Alicia, and this is my boyfriend Lachlan" she replied.

"Hang on, let me get changed" i said as i ran back into the house. I quickly ran upstairs and slipped on my black skinny jeans and ran back down.

"So this is the boyfriend, you told me all about" Alicia said as i stepped next to Derek.

"More like fiancée" i said as i showed her my ring, and her face went from happy, to shocked.

"Oh, my god! That ring is beautiful! That must have cost you a fortune!" She said, taking a look at it.

"Please, you can't put a price on love" Derek said laughing.

"Haha" Alicia laughed.

"Oh my god! You have to see the new puppy my friend gave me!" I said excitedly. And we started heading into the house. "You wanna come in Lachlan? Or stay out here and help Derek?" I asked before we got inside.

"Um, i stay out here" he replied.

So me and Alicia headed into the house and closed the door, we headed into the kitchen, and i took a mug out, and picked up Lucky and gave him to Alicia.

"Want a coffee?" I asked her.

"Sure, thanks" she replied, cuddling Lucky.

I handed her, her coffee, and sat up on the countertop, as i usually do. And Alicia just gave me an odd look.

"Come sit" i said.

So she put Lucky down, and placed her coffee right next to me, and climbed up and sat down as well.

"So how did you two meet?" She asked.

"On the job" i replied. "So where do you live now?" I asked,

"On the other side of Virginia" she replied.

"Oh my god, that's like six hours away" i replied.

"Yeah.." She replied.

"Hey, instead of driving back tonight, how about you spend a couple of days here?" I asked.

"Would that be okay? Like, with Derek i mean?" She asked,

"Yeah, he doesn't care" i replied. "Oh my god! Do you wanna see how easy it is to turn them on?!" I asked.

"Omg yes!" She replied.

"You're still a size 4 right?" I asked.

"Always" she replied.

So we headed up to my bedroom, and i found a bunch of crop tops and skinny jeans. I was already wearing a crop top, but i wanted to change the colour. I found my pink one, and Alicia found my leopard print one, and another pair of black skinny jeans. We went back downstairs and grabbed a few glasses and the jug of iced tea. We walked outside, and the guys eyes instantly averted to us.

"Woah..." They said at the same time.

"Thought you boys would be thirsty..." Alicia said as i placed the stuff on the table out there.

"You...look....hot..." Derek said to me as i turned around to face him. I looked over at Lachlan and Alicia, and Lachlan was all over her.

"Told you it would work!" I laughed.

I just turned around, looking at the project thing that Derek was doing. It was in the shape of a heart. And on the top it said 'Derek + Alexis' and across the bottom it said 'forever'. I nearly cried, because it was so thoughtful. I turned back around, and gave Derek a kiss on the lips, as a tear ran down my face.

"Lachlan helped me..." He said.

"Whats gonna go in the middle?" I asked.

"I was gonna put flowers in it, but then i thought about putting roses around the outside, and little diamonds, but now I don't know what to put in the middle" he said as he rested his head on my shoulder as i turned around.

"Well...its a stupid idea..." I started.

"No idea of yours is stupid" he laughed.

"Well, y'know when you get married...and the bride and groom kiss?" I asked.

"Yeah..." He replied.

"Well i was thinking, when we get married, for the middle, we can do a picture of when we kiss...." I said awkwardly.

"It's perfect" he replied. And with that, he kissed me softly.
