Chapter 5

Henry's POV

We walked around in the mall looking at the stores. I bought a few shirts for myself and my mom bought a dress for an upcoming party at her office. We went to Starbucks for lunch. I ordered a Choco vanilla drink. My dad ordered black coffee and my mom got a Vanilla latte. We bought some burgers and fries. When we were eating our food, a guy came up to us and said hi.

????: Hi guys.

K: hey James, nice seeing you here......my mom gives him a side hug.

B: hi James, how are you man?.....my dad shakes hands with him.

J: James

J: I am good, what brings you here?

K: oh we just came for shopping, you know....she gave him a smile.

James gave them a confused look.

J: you guys came to the mall for shopping?.....he asked surprised. I didn't understand why he was surprised by that, I mean everyone goes to the mall during weekends.

B: uh yeah, we came to buy clothes for our son, Henry....my dad said pointing to me.

James looks at me with a shocked expression but then gives me wide smile.

J: hi Henry, my name is James. I am your mom's colleague.....he says extending his hand and I shake it.

H: hi....I smile.

J: so, how long are you staying Henry?.....he inquired.

K: oh he is staying with us permanently....my mom spoke up before I could answer.

James looks tensed and a bit shocked, which made me wonder how he knows me in the first place and why is he acting all weird.

J: you sure about this?.....he asks turning to my mom.

B: yes, we are....my dad says and gives him a look.

James understands and smiles nodding his head.

J: oh that's great, have fun you guys....he says and walks away.

We continue eating our food. I couldn't understand what James meant when he said " you sure about this?".

After lunch we went to the park. We sat on a bench and I saw some children playing.

K: go play Henry. Make some new friends.....my mom encouraged me.

B: yeah Hen, go have fun....he adds.

H: okay...I stand up to go but decide other wise and sit down.

K: What's wrong baby?.....my mom asks confused at my actions.

H: Mom, can I ask you something?

K: Sure baby, what is it?

H: What did Mr. James mean when he said "you sure about this"?

K: ohh...uhhhh...uhmm.....my mom turns to my dad for help.

B: it's nothing buddy, we will talk about it later okay....my dad gives me reassuring smile.

H: okay....i say and go to play.

Clearly my parents are hiding something from me and I want to know what it is. I just have to make sure that I don't offend them in the process.

I played for a while and then we went to see a movie. We watched the new "Aladdin movie" and I loved it. After the movie we went home and I went straight to my room as I was very tired. Soon, I dozed off hugging my teddy bear.

Kara's POV

Today, Barry and I took Henry to the mall to buy him some clothes and supplies for his school. We were having a good time until James came up to us at Starbucks. He knows about Henry and Iris and everything. When Barry told him that Henry is going to stay with us for good, he was very much worried because he knows what happened to Iris and fears something or someone will come after Henry too.

We quickly changed the topic but Henry asked us about James's question when we were at the park. I didn't know what to say because I don't want to add to the poor boy's worries but luckily Barry managed the situation saying that we will talk about it later. Sighed in relief. I can't even imagine what will happen if Henry knows the truth. He loved Henry and Nora so much and the truth will crush him.

After that we went to a movie and returned home. Henry was tired and so he went straight to bed and slept holding his Teddy.

I came down after checking on him.

B: Is he asleep?

K: yeah, he is but Bar, I don't know how long we can wait before he gets suspicious....i say deep in thought.

B: I know Kara but he is just a boy and he will forget about it once he goes to school....he assures me.

K: I hope so....i say sighing.

B: don't worry, we will tell him on Frankie's 15th birthday. We will start training both of them so that he will be ready when the time comes.

K: I don't know Bar, he is still a 12 year old boy and it's not fair for him to go through all of this......I say thinking about Henry's future.

B: True, but life is not always fair...his voice cracks.

I know that he is remembering about Iris. I miss her too but he misses her the most. 

She was the one who decided to welcome him into our little Bestie group back in middle school. Barry was a shy kid but Iris turned him into a confident one. Before us he never had any friends and was always picked on by the kids at school. She brought him out of his shell and made him the man he is today.

K: Hey Barry, I am here for you baby...I say hugging him and pecking him on the lips.

He gives me a weak smile.

B: Thank you Kara. What did I do to deserve you?....he asks me in a genuine tone.

K: Don't say like that Barry. You are the best Husband a girl could ask for....i say looking into his blue eyes.

He leans in and kisses me for 2 minutes. We pulled away when our phones buzzed. It was an alien attack. I look at Barry to see his reaction. I know he is not in great shape right now and i don't want to leave him like this, but this is our life.

B: Its okay Kara. You need to go.....he says giving me a tight smile.

K: You sure?... I ask him with concern.

B: I am sure. Now go....he replies.

K: okay, bye Baby...I kissed his cheek and flew from our window and headed to the DEO to do my job.

B: Stay safe Kara...I could hear Barry calling after me.
