Chapter 13
Benji's POV
Surprisingly, I woke up before Ajax. He seemed really tired last night when we got home, which is why we didn't do a scene in the playroom, but I guess he had a really crazy week at the office and was just beat. Not that I minded, the bath with him was so intimate, more intimate than I'd been with him yet, more intimate than I'd been with anyone, even without sex.
After we talked for a bit, we washed each other. Ajax was telling me about some of the mergers he was involved with at the moment. I could tell he needed to unload and maybe decompress from the stress. I had no clue he was even under so much pressure, he never shows any sign of it and he was completely fine at dinner with Rob and Peter, but when it was just the two of us, he opened up to me and it felt really good. Like he viewed me as an equal and someone he could talk to.
He told me that his brother was passing more and more of the business responsibilities on to him, and while he appreciated his brother's trust, and it was nothing compared to all the work Nicolas did to build up the business while Ajax was still in school, he just didn't feel like he was the natural businessman his brother was. Everything came easy to Nico (as he called him sometimes), his brother breezed through high school and University getting 4.0's even while doubling up on classes so he could graduate early. Ajax was more like me, he had to work hard for his grades, study harder than most to get the A's and it took him the normal time to get his B.A. and then M.B.A.
"I just don't want to be the one to screw up the business," he confided.
"You won't screw it up Sir, and I'm sure your brother would help or get you help if you have too much work to do."
"I know kiddo," he laughed, "It's just the typical little brother wanting to impress his big brother. He's got big shoes to fill."
"I was an only child, but I think I understand Sir."
"Thanks Benji, I'm sorry to unload on you pet, just sometimes it's a lot of pressure, just too many plates balancing in the air all at once."
I stayed there a few minutes watching Ajax sleep while I thought about last night. It made me want to do something nice for him, after all, it seems like he is always doing stuff for me. I figured I would get up and make him breakfast and if he was still in bed when it was finished, it could be breakfast in bed. I eased myself out from under the covers without waking him and went to my room to put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt to cook in. When I was downstairs I remembered to take my medication first of all, and then began looking through the fridge to see what I would put together.
I didn't want to do the typical bacon and eggs, so I grabbed a bunch of veggies from the drawer; green peppers, an onion and asparagus and chopped up a bunch into small chunks. I was going to make omelets, well, one big one that I would cut in half. I knew he liked omelets because he made me one once. Before I started them though, I cut up some fresh fruit as well, and put some nice whole grain bread in the toaster. Then I started a pan and got the eggs out. While the omelet was cooking I buttered the toast, and pretty soon everything was ready. There was no sign of Ajax and it was already 9:30, so I figured breakfast in bed was the name of the game. I found a tray, added two glasses of orange juice and a cup of coffee I made for Ajax and carried it to his room. As I walked in and set the tray on the bureau, his eyes started to open. He looked at me, looked at the tray then looked at the clock.
"I can't believe I slept this late," his mumbled, his voice hoarse from sleep.
"It's okay Sir, it gave me a chance to make you breakfast in bed." He looked at the tray in admiration.
