"Seem like they're
looking at us. If
our hands touch,
even if it's all at once,
It only seems like it's
going to be crumbs.
I just only looked with
the winds of autumn -
The speech and facial
expressions that have
gotten colder all of a
sudden."Φ
SHE tasted life itself on the tip of her tongue. Bitter-sweet. Life was a drug that led so many to experience the highs and lows without mercy, though the highs were only temporary. Like an addict she has become, she drew in the taste of shit before she puffed her emotions into a cloud of smoke.
Sorrow, pain, confusion, anger and all that was negative slowly yet temporarily left her system. The feeling of the grasses sharpness against her back left her at peace. Her vision and mind zoned out and entered their own form of reality as she took another cloud of poison to escape her thoughts.
Her thoughts... They always followed her no matter where she went. Her thoughts gave her so much pain yet some comfort. Not only did it comfort her, it caressed her and accompanied her. It was a blessing and a curse.
Please don't fall. Please don't collapsed.
She watched it snap and fall away from its network. She watched the weak and withered stranger approach her before it gracefully landed on her abdomen.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
The sudden entrance of a deep and husky voice caused her to snap her head towards the speaker.
"What do you want?" She slowly sat up and narrowed her brows at him, tapped the dead ends of her cigarette before drawing in for another breath. The stranger however only responded with a warm smile which failed to faze her.
He held out his hand for a handshake. "Hi, my name is-"
"I don't care," she hissed before puffing a cloud of toxins into his face. The subtle flinch from him amused her much to his dismay. However, he did not dwell on her rude gesture and continued.
"Autumn, isn't it such a beautiful season?" He pointed at the yellow-red maple leaf upon her stomach, "a season of renewal and reflection that allows us to either bloom or not." He then continued to lay against the grass beside her, closed his eyes and drew in a long breath of content.
"Since you rejected me to give an introduction, how about you introduce yourself?" he encouraged.
She frowned at him. Firstly, he had the audacity to interrupt her space of tranquillity, and secondly, he suddenly wanted to become acquainted with her, which she certainly did not appreciate.
"Listen here" she retorted, "I could care less about your speech. I also don't care about your name, your face and your existence alone. Go bother someone else who cares, because I don't."
As silence fell over the pair, he continued by observing her.
"You and autumn... as the wind blows, you both seem to drift away. How does it feel to be lonely, withered and weak?" he confronted. He watched her reaction, her eyes wide and lip parted at the unpredictable question. She failed to respond; her voice stuck in her throat.
"We all want certain memories to fade and wither away. Never have I witnessed someone waste and rot themselves into despair in mere seconds like-" he paused and looked into her eyes with intensity, "you."
