Some people spend their entire lives searching for their soulmates. Some hope that they will simply stumble across their soulmates. And others, like Connor, don't mind not finding theirs immediately. After all he had hockey to focus on.

As for you, you were desperately hoping to find your soulmate. You had heard Connor's voice in your head ever since the two of you were old enough to speak but you were never able to mention anything that could give away your identity other than your first names. But it was nice to always have someone to talk to and it just happened that as he grew interested in hockey, you started to as well, wanting to bond with him even more.

So here you were, on a Friday night trying to find your seat in Rogers Place after Connor had revealed that he liked the team.

"What are you doing?" Connor murmured in your head.

"I'm watching the Oilers."

"On TV?"

"No, I managed to get tickets," you grinned even though he couldn't see it

"Holy shit," he breathed out.

"What?"

"Stay in your seat after the game. Just trust me on this one, okay."

And with that your conversation with Connor ended and you looked down towards the players stepping out onto the ice. You had heard of the Oilers' captain Connor McDavid who happened to share a first name with your soulmate.

The game was definitely an intense one and you were on the edge of your seat the whole time and luckily for both you and Connor, the Oilers pulled through in overtime.

As the arena began to clear out, you decided to talk to Connor.

"That game was crazy, Con. Did you watch it?" you said excitedly to him.

"Yeah it was a tough one. Are you still in your seat?"

"Of course. I'm not sure why but you're the most trustworthy person I know so I'll just stay here until you tell me otherwise."

"Thank you. It shouldn't be too long now."

He was confusing you even more now but you had to stay put so you wrapped your coat tighter around you as the lack of people lowered the temperature of the arena.

Hearing footsteps, you looked up to see a blond haired man walking towards you. A man who looked suspiciously like the captain of the Oilers.

They said when you met your soulmate you would just know but there was no way your Connor was an NHLer so you simply ignored the warmth in your chest and tingling fingertips. That was until he spoke.

"(y/n)" he said softly and you immediately recognised his voice. The one that played imaginary games with you as a child, the one that you helped cheat in tests when you were teenagers and the one that always encouraged you throughout your entire life.

"Connor," you whispered, "is it really you?"

"Yeah, it's really me, (y/n)," he grinned, running his fingers through his wet hair.

Standing up, you rushed into Connor's arms and he wrapped you in a tight hug while you shed tears of joy. Being with him felt euphoric and you never wanted to let go.

"I never thought I would meet you," you murmured, "I mean I always hoped I would but it seemed impossible."

Connor drew away and rested his hands on your shoulders, staring into your eyes. "I can't believe it either, (y/n). This is honestly just so incredible. I love you so much. I always have."

"I love you, Connor. You mean everything to me," you smiled before he pulled you back into his embrace, the two of you slowly swaying as you relished the ecstasy of finding each other.
