ROSE'S perspective
"I think it's a good idea!"
I sighed. It was not a good idea.
An anonymous dating website was far from a good idea.
"You need to meet somebody!" He yelled once more.
I rolled my eyes, the last thing I needed was unwanted encouragement from my little brother.
He walked in from the balcony, a paint brush in hand, sitting comfortably between his fingers as he judged me from his bed.
His expression, void of anything supportive, looked at me with annoyed eyes, "Rose, its been years. You need to get back out there." He muttered.
I sat up, gripping my wine glass as I moved positions, "I know but I don't need to force myself to meet someone. I'm lonely not desperate." I corrected.
He chuckled, moving aside the throw pillows that secured my comfort before saying: "Just try it, who knows you might meet someone and live happily ever after."
I scoffed. My life, my love life especially, is the farthest thing from any kind of happily ever after. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted. After all it was free and one of the top dating sites the internet had to offer. Not to mention (despite it being an anonymous site) it was said to be 100% safe. But I honestly couldn't bring myself to do it. It just wasn't...me.
"How 'bout this; you have to go on a date with the first person who asks you. If it doesn't work out you can delete the account." He folded his arms, seemingly happy that he conducted this plan.
"And if I don't?" I challenged.
He smirked, "Then I'll continue to bother you about your love life."

My phone buzzed for the fourth time this morning, signifying I had an alert from that stupid dating site.
Usually I liked the attention, I've never been one to shy away from standing out, but this was getting to be too much.
Deciding to check on the alert, I crawled across my bed to reach for my phone.
Eager isn't exactly the word I'd use. So far my luck has been shit, just liked the women that've messaged me this morning.
The first woman was a college student. Not bad until she started asking how much money I made.
The second girl was just that; a girl, who somehow manage to lie about being over 18 to even create an account.
The third woman was completely out of my league. Her coming across my account was probably a complete accident. Even if she didn't know what I looked like.
Hesitating to open the app, I eventually forced myself to click the brightly colored illustration that allowed me to see my notifications.

Chicago, IllinoisSeems normal. But they all did at a point before they said or did something that was a complete turnoff.
I tossed my phone, figuring that coming back later with a better attitude would help me make better decisions in the end.
At this point I've given up. I'm convinced I'm meant to be single.
