ROSE'S perspective
I never did like Monday's.
In fact I don't think anyone really likes Monday's.
They're unreasonably long and determine just exactly how your week is going to go. Today was only slightly different, simply because I was starting a new job.
Some fashion company was looking for an assistant(probably to run around and get coffee or bagels) and I needed to apply. Not because I had any interest or knowledge about the fashion industry, but because the pay was high, and my brother, Kai, and I definitely needed it.
Though I'm not sure why I was even the one picked to be considered for the job, I'm glad I was.
However my boss, was someone I wasn't excited about.
While going in for my interview I was at least expecting to meet her. Her secretary, however, made it clear that Ms. Emelia Scott, my new boss, was a busy women. And if she wanted to see me she'd make time to.
Bitch.
You're going to be my boss, the least you could've done is show up. But she was a complete no show. On my way out the building I heard my now new coworkers murmur about how I wasn't even going to make it past the first day. How I'd be eaten alive within the first 10 minutes.
Hopefully she wouldn't be that bad.
As I jumped in my car, already 15 minutes late, I sped through every traffic light and around every car that I possibly could. Being late, at least some of the time, was expected. But on the first day? To any new employee that was close to a suicide note.
God willing Ms. Scott was having a good day.
I arrived shortly. Thankful I was able to dodge any police that could've been waiting to pull me over, but I looked a mess. Sweat beads had formed and my once tamed curly hair had now managed to get back into its lions mane.
Perfect.
I'm late and I look a mess.
Fixing myself the best way I could in the shortest amount of time possible, I eventually made my way to the front of a tall building that sat in the center of downtown. One with a large S painted on it.
I made my way in, fumbling over buttons on the elevator to get to the top floor where Ms. Scott's office apparently was.
Stepping off the elevator I came to an open space, one that was hardly an office, more of a loft. Though it was obvious Ms. Scott had her own designated, area where I assumed she worked a majority of the time. It was also empty, no other employees were up here. The entire floor was decorated with different fabrics, mannequins, shit I've never even seen before. And in the back was another small space, where it was safe to assume would be my office. Just opposite of Ms. Scott's.
"Oh great. You decided to show up." A sarcastic voice was heard from behind me.
I jumped. Clutching onto my purse after being scared nearly half to death.
The first thing I saw were her legs. Her long, slender, creamy, legs that peeked out of a skin tight black dress. Then forcefully I looked at her face, quickly wishing I didn't.
She was probably one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. Her jaw line cut in at just the perfect angle, her fair skin and chocolate eyes were soft, unlike her expression. Her perfectly arched eyebrows were furrowed, full of annoyance, with slightly pursed lips as we eyed each other. She taking longer to stare me down than I would've liked.
It was a really uncomfortable situation.
"Good morning Ms. Scott!" I tried to sound bubbly. In the end I don't think it worked. "I'm you're new assistant, Rosalie." I stuck out my hand, in which she glanced at before walking away.
Rude.
I fixed myself some more, becoming conscious and slightly insecure standing next to her, before I followed a few steps behind.
She stopped suddenly, "I hope you know you're late."
I nodded.
"If you're late again you will be fired. I have things that need to get done. I don't need a lollygager." Her stone cold voice spoke, leaving me feeling smaller than a mouse.
This was just terrific.
"Yes ma'am." Was all I said. I figured trying to explain myself would only dig me into a deeper hole.
She continued to walk, her tall yet lean silhouette practically floating across the floor. I had no other choice but to watch and follow her, so far she wasn't very vocal or friendly.
She suddenly came to a stop, one of which I wasn't prepared for and nearly ran into her. Now even more embarrassed I cleared my throat, as if that would soothe the awkwardness.
"Here is your office. There's already paperwork I need you to sort out on your desk." She eyed me once more, "if you could manage to do that."
I nodded again. Avoiding eye contact in the fear that I would make myself look more stupid than I already did. She rolled her eyes before strutting away without any further words.
I was finally able to breathe, making a mental note to never be late again before I opened the glass door and entered the room.
It was huge.
Bigger than my bedroom back at home. It was furnished with minimal furniture, from the dainty shelves to the animal print rug that laid at my feet. There was a big desk that overlooked the rest of downtown, this desk also happened to have my work that Ms. Scott had asked me to do.
I sat down, making myself comfortable in the chair before I pulled out my phone.
Rose.
Alright my boss hates me.I sighed, staring at the papers before me that waited to be touched. I had no idea what the hell I was supposed to be doing. Her directions weren't exactly clear and I found myself stuck.
This was a nightmare that shouldn't have happened.
I should've just picked up a waitressing job and just lived off of tips for the rest of my life. Serving food seemed to be the only thing at the moment that I would be good at.
