Yukhei walked into his house. His mom was passed out on his couch, and his father was 'out'. Yukhei walked in front of the couch, and picked up the beer bottles that surrounded his mom. He threw them away, and then took out the trash.

Yukhei checked the time it was 9:30 PM. The front door opened and Yukhei's dad stumbled in. He had hickeys covering his neck. Yukhei frowned. "I thought you said you weren't going to cheat on Mom anymore." Yukhei said, crossing his arms. His father simply rolled his eyes, and pushed Yukhei out of the way.

Yukhei sighed and walked to his room. He clicked on Mark's contact and texted him.

Me: Hey

Mark💞: Hey who's this?

Me: It's Yukhei

Mark💞: Oh ok well gn

Me: gn

Yukhei smiled and drifted off to sleep.

~around 3 am~

Yukhei was awoken to a loud crash. He sat up in his bed. "Do you think I'm stupid enough to not know where you were!" He heard his mom yell. "Well maybe if you didn't drink all the time I wouldn't cheat on you!" His dad yelled back. Yukhei winced and got up to get headphones.

But he stopped when he heard a loud smack. Yukhei opened his room door to see his father standing over his mom, who was crying on the floor. Yukhei ran to his dad and punched him. "Yukhei stop!" His mother yelled. His father got up and punched Yukhei in the stomach. Yukhei fell down. His father kept punching until his mother stepped in between them.

"Honey please stop. He didn't mean it. Just- Just go to sleep." Yukhei's mother said in a shaky voice. His father mumbled something and then walked to his room. "Are you okay?" His mother asked. "No Mom. Why don't you leave him already?" Yukhei asked, tears welling up in his eyes.

"It's not easy. He's one who pays the bills and rent. And I'm in no state to get job." His mother replied. It would be diffcult for Yukhei's mom to keep a job due to her alcohol addiction. "But I promise I'll stop drinking. For us." She added. Yukhei nodded and got up and went to his room.

He knew his mom was lying. His father will cheat again and his mother will drink again. It was a never ending cycle.

~the next day at school~

"Yo Yukhei who gave you the black eye?" Johnny asked. Yukhei smiled like nothing happened last night. "Nothing I fell off my skateboard." Yukhei lied.

Yuta shook his head. "I told you to be careful." Kun scolded. Yukhei smiled and laughed.

~mark~

Mark knew Yukhei was lying about the skateboard incident. He knew a fake smile all too well. He decided he'll ask him after school.

~after school~

"What happened to your eye?" Mark asked while walking to his house. "I fell off my skateboard." Yukhei responded. Mark stopped walking. "Stop lying." Mark said. Yukhei frowned. "It doesn't matter." No matter how much he wanted to tell Mark about how he got his black eye, he couldn't risk getting taken away from his mom.

Mark sighed. "Tell me when you're ready." Mark said and continued to walk to his house.
