3 months. It's been 3 months since Yukhei's father had started to beat him. Over these 3 months the beatings had gotten worse and worse. Instead of just a black eye. It turned into a bruises all over his body.
But this time his father went too far. To the Point where his arm was broken. Yukhei wasn't sure what he was going to tell his friends. Yukhei opened the classroom door. All eyes were on him. "You're late." His teacher, Mr. Xu said. "I know," Yukhei said and sat down at his desk.
~after class~
"How did you break your arm?" Jaehyun asked. "Um I fell," Yukhei said. "Yukhei you're a terrible liar." Taeyong said, joining the conversation. "I'm not lying." Yukhei lied again.
"You just lied again." Taeyong said. "I can't tell you how I broke my arm." Yukhei replied. "Why not?" Jaehyun asked. "I..I just can't." Yukhei said and walked away.
~After school~
Yukhei was walking to Mark's house. Even though they already completed their project, they still walked home together.
"Will you tell me now?" Mark asked. "Tell you what?" Yukhei asked. "How you got your bruises and broken arm." Mark responded. "Um well I fell." Yukhei lied. Mark sighed. "Please don't lie to me. I'm not stupid." Mark said. Yukhei smiled. "I'm not lying. I promise." Yukhei said.
Mark frowned. "Ok," He continued to walk to his house. Yukhei didn't want to tell Mark, or anyone for that matter. He's supposed to be the happy bubbly boy. He's not supposed to be sad, it's not something that people are used to seeing.
They arrived at Mark's house. "Do you want to spend the night?" Mark asked. He figured Yukhei's parents are the ones giving him the bruises, so he wanted him to stay away from his so called home. "Yeah," Yukhei responded with a wide smile.
They walked inside. "Yukhei!" Mark's mom cheered happily and hugged the boy. "Hi Mrs. Lee." Yukhei said. "I told you to call me mom." Mrs. Lee replied. Yukhei smiled and nodded. Mrs. Lee turned to Mark. "Your father is coming back from a business trip." She told her son. Mark shrugged and walked to his room.
Yukhei followed. Mark was lying on his bed. "You could lay on the bed." Mark said, getting up. Yukhei grabbed Mark's arm. "What why? It's your room you should sleep on the bed." Yukhei replied. "You have a broken arm." Mark said. Yukhei was about to argue, but was cut off by the door opening.
"Dinner is ready." Mrs. Lee said. "I ate at school. I'm not hungry." Mark said quickly. Mrs. Lee frowned. "You haven't been eating my food."
"I'm just not hungry lately." Mark said. Mrs. Lee sighed and left. The two boys sat in silence for a bit. "Are you going to tell me how you broke your arm?" Mark asked again. "I'll tell you if you tell me why you aren't eating." Yukhei replied.
"I ate at school." Mark said. "Liar you don't even touch the school lunch." Yukhei said. "Fine. I'm not satisfied with my body. I'm too fat." Mark confessed. Yukhei furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Mark you're not fat. You're actually underweight." Yukhei said.
"You don't need to lie. Now tell me how you broke your arm." Mark changed the subject. "My dad," Yukhei simply said, and shrugged his shoulders like it was a normal thing. "What about your mom?" Mark asked. "I make sure she doesn't get hurt by my dad." Yukhei responded.
Yukhei was happy to finally tell someone. He was also happy that Mark told him about his issues.
