Yukhei knew it was only a matter of time before his mother got back with his father. He was disappointed, but definitely not surprised. He stared from the hallway as he watched his mother and father converse.

Right now, they were happy and getting along, but in a few days it'll be just the same. Yukhei feared to be hit again. He also feared his mother going through the pain of his father's insults.

He hated the fact that sometimes he can't fight back. Not because he's physically incapable, but because he still thinks a part of his father will change.

That maybe one day his father will suddenly remember that he shouldn't hit his wife or son. That he shouldn't go out every night and spend all their money.

"Yukhei come join us," His mother says, smiling brightly. Yukhei looks in her eyes and he knows, she scared to be alone.

Yukhei stands still for a bit, debating on whether or not he should go. He slowly makes his way to the dinner table. He sits down and looks at his lap, scared to make eye contact.

His mother gives him a comforting smile, "Your father said he changed, so there's nothing to worry about." Yukhei looks at his father, who wasn't even paying attention.

Yukhei wished he could grab his mom and run away, but that took courage. Courage he didn't have. Not since he helped Jisung.

Yukhei suddenly remembers how he punched his father. He knew his father was angry at him for that since he has a terrible habit of holding grudges.

He knew that he was going to get punished for hitting his father. He just didn't know when. Yukhei began to shake with fear. He stood up abruptly, "I'm um I'm going to my room."

Mark

Mark was happy that his old friend, Johnny moved back to town. He couldn't wait to invite him over and hang out. He wondered if Johnny's number remained the same.

He clicked on the contact, Johnny 🥺💕. The phone began to ring, Mark impatiently waited hoping would actually like to hear from him.

"Hello?" Johnny's voice could be heard. It was like music to Mark's ears. He smiles, the most real smile in months. "Hi Johnny. It's Mark if you don't remember."– he nervously plays with his sleeves –"I was wondering if you want to hang out?"

A brief silence fills the conversation. To Mark it felt like forever. "Yeah of course! I was hoping you would like to hang out," Johnny says, cheerfully. Mark was almost glowing with happiness.

"Where do you want to go?" Mark asks. "How about we go to the movies?" Johnny suggests. Mark quickly agreed. After some short conversation the two hung up the phone.

Mark lies on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He couldn't wait for Saturday, which is the day Johnny and him can hang out. He hasn't felt this happy since forever.

For whatever reason Johnny had a way of lifting Mark's mood just by being himself. Mark's heart began to race as he thought of his friend. 'I don't like him... right?'

Mark didn't feel like thinking about his feelings. He decides to go to sleep, so he could see Johnny tomorrow.
