Class was already over a few minutes ago, but as we were now staying on a near building in the same campus no one was in any rush to get out. I was completely lost in thought, one earphone on and the other one over my ear, slowly packing my things while deciding how was I going to waste that evening.
"Uhm... Is (Y/ln) here?"
I snapped back to reality at the sound of my name. I looked at the person that had just asked for me and found an unknown girl from another class peeking her head over the door, not trespassing it. I quickly finished packing my things and came closer to her.
"That'd be me. What is it?" I looked at her filled with curiosity.
"A boy has been asking for you in the entrance" she said delivering the message. I frowned clearly not expecting that.
"Uhm, thanks "I said hesitantly, hanging my backpack over my shoulder, leaving the classroom.
I walked down the corridors and out of the building trying to recall who would want to talk to me, but only some boys from my class came to my mind and this guy couldn't be from the U.A or he would have got in and just come to me.
"Shindo?" I said completely surprised of seeing him here, poking my head out of the gates.
I had totally forgot about him. He did told me to 'hang out sometime' but we never really actually talked again so I really thought he didn't really meant it when he said that. So it really was a shock to see him here.
He turned to see me and after some seconds smiled sweetly.
"Hey" he simply waved smiling. I looked at him not knowing what to say, waiting for him to start the conversation or explain why he was here "We didn't have class today so I thought I'd pay you a visit. Are you busy right now?"
"Uhm... Eh, no, not really" I stupidly answered, facepalming in my mind 'Damn it (y/n) stop hesitating you look pathetic'
He slightly smiled at me again, this time almost trying not to show it, making me feel more awkward and embarrassed. Why did he always smile at me? Why were these smiles so different from the 'mask' one? Why were they annoyingly soothing? And why was he even smiling right now? I hadn't even done nor said anything.
"Wanna grab a coffee or something then?" he asked again.
I nodded and started walking away from there with him by my side.
The way to our destination was mostly silent, only breaking it to talk about where did we want to go and what did we want to eat.
We finally got to a caffe where he ordered a vanilla milkshake and I asked for a large coffee. We paid and sit on a table at the back of the place, next to the windows. I didn't know if it was just me but the atmosphere was a bit tense, or rather awkward. We were sitting there silently, looking at each other, refusing to look away like if it was some kind of stupid duel. He was bowing a bit, reaching the straw, slowly sucking from his milkshake while intensely locking his eyes in mine. I scanned him the same way he was doing to me, nervously tapping my fingers on my coffee feeling my skin and cheeks burn a bit. He was wearing a tight dark green long sleeve shirt that adjusted just right to his toned body, along with some trousers. We stayed like that for several minutes until he finally talked.
"So U.A turned into a boarding school uh?"he asked, sitting himself more comfortably on the small sofa, laying one of his arms next to his milkshake while he grabbed the straw with his other hand. I nodded sipping from the bitter liquid "How is it? I mean I'm sure not all parents would want their children out of their sight for that long after the frequent villain attacks"
I looked at him grabbing tighter my cup of coffee, not surprised that he could understand so easily the problem U.A had to face when deciding to transform into a boarding school.
"All might and Eraserhead took care of explaining to them why was so much safer this way. But nothing is really that different, we just have more time to train" I explained, starting to feel my body adjust better to its surroundings feeling less tense and more comfortable.
"What did your parents think?" he said, lowering a bit his head to suck from his straw again, but still looking me deep in the eyes.
"Just as you said, my father wasn't really fond of it but he understands that this is what I want" I answered vaguely which he noticed. I imagined he would push a bit harder trying to get something for me, but he must have noticed that maybe it was a complicated and sensitive issue so he just let it go. Really amazing me for some minutes.
"About All Might, was he really a teacher? How was he?" he now asked eyes shining like a little fanboy, making me tenderly smile before that side of him.
I explained to him how the classes really were, and how All Might was with us, surprisingly having a good time with Shindo. Afterwards we talked a bit about how were his classes back at Ketsubutsu and about the heroes in general. Who were our favorites and why. And before I could even realize it, really feeling like if just half an hour had passed, it was almost night.
"You really don't need to walk me back, or you'll get home really late" I said, exiting the place.
"Nah it's okay, the last train leaves in 2 hours so I still have time" he smiled at me, really making me feel something weird before the hidden care that lied under that smile.
I didn't complain anymore though and so we made our way back, catching up our conversation where we had left it. Until we arrived, taking us less than what it took us to get to that cafeteria, or at least that was how I felt.
"Thanks for making room for me today" he said once we had arrived, creating a shy smile on me.
"Thank you for coming. I actually thought I wouldn't see you again"
He shook his head with a serious expression.
"I have been busy these days. But not anymore. I'll talk to you later then" he then said preparing himself to leave.
"Oh, wait. How? We don't really have our phone numbers..." I said, although he had already been looking for something in his pockets when I started speaking.
"There" he lended me his phone "That can be easily fixed, right?" he added with a somewhat cocky smirk.
'Did he also plan for this?' I asked myself not being able to hold back a grin.
I grabbed his phone and wrote my name along with my number. We then said goodnight and finally separated. It wasn't until I entered the buildings were our rooms where that I started to feel a bit tired. Strangely, I didn't feel the slight spark of sleepiness while I was with Shindo. But now that I had finally let myself fall onto my comfy bed I started to feel better than always thinking that for once I'd have a decent sleep.
