I placed down my knife and fork while letting out a happy sigh as I picked up my goblet.
"I can't remember the last time I've had a meal that delicious."
"I'll be sure to have the chef informed." A low chuckle escaped Dark's lips. "He's been given orders from the doctor on what to prepare for you. He'll be glad to know you enjoy his cooking."
I smiled at the thought.
"So," He said, leaning back in his chair. "I suppose you want your questions answered."
"I would." I nodded.
"Very well then. Ask away."
"How did you find me?"
Dark swallowed hard. "I'm not entirely sure you will want to hear this..."
"After what I've been through after my kingdom collapsed, I doubt anything will shock me." I said bluntly.
"Very well," He sucked the air through his teeth. "2 years ago, a woman with a decapitated arm came stumbling into Daemonium, crying hysterically."
I felt a lump lodge into my throat.
"She was sent to the infirmary where Schneeplestein tried his hardest to treat her. Once she had calmed down, she told us about how Wilford and his guards...destroyed Adamas and your people. She also claimed to have seen him carry you away on his horse before she escaped."
"What happened to her?" I asked, feeling my chest tighten.
Dark bowed his head. "I'm afraid to say, Princess...she didn't make it. Schneeplestein said that the shock combined with the infection from her injuries, she would have been lucky to have survived the night."
"Wh-what was her name?"
He paused for a moment, his brow furrowed. "I. Think. It was...Meredith. She had short black hair and, if I remember correctly, one blue eye and one green."
"Meredith Ashing..." I whispered, blinking back the tears. "She worked as a florist..."
He seemed surprised that I remembered that, but made no comment. "Anyway, she told me where she saw you being carried away by Wilford, and then I started searching."
I nodded my understanding. "I see. My next question is, how did you climb in and out the tower? You had a rope, but you didn't use it to aid you."
"I simply scaled the tower, Princess." A smirk pulled at his lips. "But, I suppose I should inform you of something."
"And what's that?"
"I am a demon."
I stared at him, my blood running cold. "A...A...A demon?!"
"Yes...well, half demon. My mother was human." He reached over to take my hand, holding it in his. "But I assure you, Y/N, you're in no danger. Half of my kingdom is populated by demons. Do you have any other questions?"
"Yes..." I hesitated. That explained the water appearing in the bathtub. "Why do you and Wilford look so alike?"
His hand tightened around mine slightly. "That's because he's my half brother."
I did nothing. I didn't even blink.
"We have different fathers, hence why I am a demon and he is fully human. My mother and father were married briefly before she moved to Metus and married Wilford's father. After that she was never heard from again."
I didn't think I wanted to know why...
"I see." I nodded, looking down at my empty plate. "I have one more question."
