I woke up with a throbbing pain in the back of my skull while something hard pressed into my back. I tried to rub the fatigue out of my eyes, only to find that I couldn't move my arms.
It took a while for my vision to clear, but when it did I found myself sitting on the landing against the banister with my wrists tied to the railings at either side of my head before taking notice of the cloth stuffed in my mouth.

"It was an accident. I swear..."

My wide eyes landed on the owner of the voice. William sat on a lone chair with his gun in hand. He had taken off his jacket and helmet, showing he had on red suspenders and a cream button down shirt.

He stared me down until he finally stood up. "Do you know what it feels like to have everything taken from you?"

I did.

I badly wanted to nod my head, but the cold glint in his eye kept me still.

"I loved Celine...Damien was my closest friend..." He whispered. "And Mark? Well, let's not speak ill of the dead..."

I did not like where this was going.

"The detective had no reason to pin me for murder, but after our little...quarrel, things have changed."

He took a few steps closer before kneeling down in front of me. "I would let you leave in one piece, (y/n), but I can't risk you blabbing about everything to everyone now, can I?"

I felt tears brim in my eyes as I slowly shook my head in disbelief.

"I'm glad you agree." He smirked, standing up straight again. "If you happen to run into Abe, be sure to pass on my sincerest apologies for putting a bullet in his heart."

I couldn't hold it in anymore.

My whole form shook as muffled sobs wracked my body and tears streamed down my face. William glanced indifferently at me before pulling out his gun.

"Look at it this way, (y/n)." He said. "I'm doing you a favor. I'm sending you back to Mark. Don't you want to see him again?"

I closed my eyes.

I heard his finger slowly pull back the trigger...

"William that's quite enough!"

My eyes immediately snapped open when I heard that voice.

I looked up and a muffled cry escaped my throat as a man with raven hair and dark eyes, wearing a white dress shirt and black slacks stood between me and the colonel.

William's arms hung by his sides, the gun hanging limp in his hand as he stared wide eyed at Damien...or was it...Mark?!

"You're...You're not dead..." He whispered before shaking his head and laughing maniacally. "I mean...of course you're not dead!"

"You need to leave, William." Damien/Mark said quietly in an almost sinister tone which matched the cold glower on his face. "Leave and never return."

The Colonel nodded furiously, backing away while glancing from Damien/Mark then to me until he reached the top of the stairs.

Damien...Mark...who ever he was, slowly turned to look at me. The hard glare that scared off William vanished. As he knelt down in front of me to untie my wrists from the banister, I could see his eyes were filled with relief and remorse.

Once he removed the gag from my mouth, he took my hands and helped me to my feet. As he did, I noticed his skin was a light pearl grey highlighted with a faint red and blue hue.
