You felt a hand covering your mouth as you tried to let out a scream. Two fingers reached up and hit your temple, knocking you out instantly.

Behind you, Kai widened his eyes in fear and anger as he ran towards where you and the man were. By the time he reached the spot though, the two of you had already disappeared.

Panicked, Kai looked around frantically, trying to see any sign of where you could have gone. Running without any sense of direction whatsoever, he raced through countless alleyways until he hit a dead end. Kai let out a cry of frustration and regret washed over him once more. Why, why did I lose my temper? Why did I hurt her?

3 weeks later.

“Kai, you need to eat something, you need to keep your strength up so you can look for ______ah.” Suho said as he placed a plate of food in front of Kai.

Kai merely pushed the plate away and muttered, “I’m not hungry.”

It’s been 3 weeks since the night you were kidnapped and all of EXO had been looking frantically for you. The other members had tried to comfort Kai, saying that they would find you, that you were going to be okay. But as the days passed, there was no sign of you. You were constantly on Kai’s mind and he couldn’t eat or sleep without worrying about you and whenever night fell, images from your kidnapping would flash through his mind.

After the first week of looking for you, the manager began to get fed up with EXO missing so many of their schedules. Forcefully, he had them return to performing but it was evident that no one had the heart to sing or dance. Kai in particular couldn’t focus, your pained face and the bruises on your wrist from the fight kept running through his head.

He was practicing halfheartedly in the practice room when Chanyeol ran into the room, out of breath.

“Kai, she..we..the police… they found her!” he managed to say before as he caught his breath.

“What? When? Where was she? Is she okay?” Kai cried out frantically.

“She’s in the hospital now. They found her at an old warehouse and she was..” Chanyeol began to say before his voice drifted off.

“She was what?? Tell me!” Kai asked as he shook Chanyeol by the shoulders.

“Just go to the hospital. You’ll see what I mean.” Chanyeol pulled himself free from Kai’s grip and headed towards the door. “Come on!”

Without hesitation Kai followed Chanyeol out the door and the two ran through the streets as fast as they could, paying no attention to the startled residents on the streets.

When they arrived in front of your hospital room door, Chanyeol turned towards Kai, blocking his entrance to the room.

“What are you doing?! I need to-“

“Listen Kai, you can’t, under any circumstance break down in front of her okay? She’s… not exactly who she used to be. You have to understand that she went through a lot at the warehouse. Just don’t lose your cool okay?”

”..What do you mean?” Kai stuttered, taken aback by Chanyeol’s words.

“You’ll see. Just promise that you won’t lose it arasso?”

“Arasso.”

Upon hearing his agreement, Chanyeol stepped back and let Kai through.

Bracing himself, Kai stepped into the room to see you lying on the hospital bed, bandages covering you. You were awake and conversing with your mother, relief evident on your face that you had made it out alive.

Your mother looked up when she heard the door open and when she saw it was Kai, she quietly got up and headed towards the door.

“Umma, where are you going?” you called from the bed.

”______ah, umma’s going out to run some errands really fast. I’ll be right back.”

“But-“

“Just take the time to rest okay?” your mom cut you off before walking quickly out the door.

When your mother had left, Kai walked slowly towards you, tears stinging the back of his eyes as he took in your broken body.

“I’m so sorry jagiya,” he whispered as he took a seat by you.

“Why are you sorry? It wasn’t your fault. I don’t even know you, why would it be your fault?” you asked, your eyes wide with curiosity.

“Jagiya, don’t pretend not to know me. I’m Kai, your boyfriend.”

“Boyfriend?” you questioned, eyebrows raising in surprise.

“Yes… I am your boyfriend.”

“But, I’ve never had a boyfriend before, at least I don’t think so…” you mumbled, you furrowed your eyebrows together as you concentrated, as if trying to call upon an old memory.

“Yes you have! It’s me! It’s Kai!” he said, his voice raising slightly.

“But I-“

You were about to protest when Chanyeol walked in. He looked at Kai’s panicked expression and your confused one and understood immediately what was going on.

“Kai, come with me, I need to talk to you. _______ah, sorry I’ll be right back.”

Casting a desperate glance at you, Kai reluctantly followed Chanyeol out the door.

“What the hell is going on?” he growled as soon as the door was shut.

Sighing, Chanyeol turned to Kai, “I’m sorry, we thought it would be best if we didn’t tell you and maybe it was just temporary, but I guess no-“

“WHAT IS IT?”

“Keep your voice down Kai!”

“I CAN’T IF YOU WON’T TELL ME WHAT IT IS!”

“She lost her some of her memory Kai. She doesn’t remember you and what happened between you two. She remembers the rest of us, but she can’t recall who you are. The doctor said it could be because of the trauma she went through and you were the closest to her when it happened so her memory wiped you out along with the kidnapping. Whether it’s temporary or permanent we don’t know.” Chanyeol finished with a heavy sigh.

“No, no… she can’t not remember me. She can’t. She knows how much she means to me, she can’t forget me.” Kai whispered as he slid down with his back to the wall.

Burying his face in his hands he mumbled, “Oh god, jagiya, what did I do to you?”
