The wail of sirens woke Kai abruptly from his sleep. Groggily, he pulled himself from the bed and stumbled towards the window. He looked out to see a stretcher hurriedly carried from a nearby building towards the waiting ambulance. Rubbing his eyes, he squinted to see who was on the stretcher. A girl with dark hair was lying motionless on the stretcher. She looks kind of like _______ah, Kai thought to himself as he watched. Curiously, he took a closer look and realized in an instant that it WAS you.

He widened his eyes in shock as he watched you get loaded into the ambulance. Without hesitation, Kai grabbed his jacket from his chair and slipped it on as he ran out of the door past the shocked members.

Please don’t let it be a repeat of before,Kai thought to himself as his heart raced frantically in his chest.

”___________shi, that was quite a nasty fall you took there.” the doctor said as she stood by your bedside.

You smiled sheepishly and glanced down at your hands, bandaged with layers of gauze. “How exactly did you fall?” the doctor asked. You looked up, “I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking and I missed a step on the stairs and….it just kind of went from there.”

“I’m such a klutz.” you sighed. Suddenly the door to your hospital room opened with a long bang and both the doctor and you turned to see Kai standing in the doorway, panting.

“Sir… is there something you need?” the doctor asked, raising an eyebrow at Kai’s sudden appearance.

“I…no…I just…” Kai’s voice drifted off as he tried to think of an explanation, but the relief of seeing you okay clouded all his thoughts.

“Are you here to see ________shi?” the doctor questioned as Kai took a step into the room.

The question caught Kai off guard. He hadn’t expected to talk to you face to face. He longed to answer yes to the doctor’s question, but a voice in his mind told him otherwise.Kim Jongin, you have to make a decision now. You can’t hide from her forever,he thought as you gazed curiously at him from the bed.

Kai nodded slowly, his eyes never leaving yours. The doctor stood up, “Well then, I’ll come back later.”

“Please don’t wear yourself out _________shi,” the doctor said before walking past Kai out the door.

Kai moved slowly towards your bedside, emotions coursing through him. It had been so long since he had been in the same room with you. There was so much that he wanted to say to you, but he knew he couldn’t lose control. He just couldn’t let all his hard work go to waste.

“What is your name?” you asked as you watched him take a seat beside you. He didn’t respond, just merely sat there.

“Are you okay?” he asked quietly, looking at your bandages. You saw a hint of worry in his dark eyes.

“I’m okay, I was just a klutz, that’s all.” you chuckled. You stopped laughing however, when you saw that his expression remained sorrowful, his gaze never leaving your bandages.

“Hey, you okay?” you asked, waving a hand in front of his face. Kai seemed to snap out of it when he heard your voice. Without a word, he reached over and gently took your hand in his. He traced the flesh in between the bandage of your hand and your arm, right on your rest. You felt tingles shoot up your spine on the contact.

“What happened here?” he asked softly, running his thumb over a patch of skin on your wrist that was a faint shade of purple.

“I’m not sure, it’s always been there. Must have been from someone holding on too tight or something.” you shrugged.

Kai’s eyes remained focused on the light purple spot, memories of the night the two of you fought running through his mind. He remembered your tears, the way you pulled away from him, when you ran out the door, all the way to your kidnapping. He felt tears prick the back of his eyes. Abruptly he stood up from the seat and walked briskly out the door.

“Yah, where are you-“

He never heard you finish for he had shut the door harshly behind him, a mix of regret and pain filling him and almost swallowing him whole.
