“I don’t know how I feel about the Moschino runway show being Barbie themed.” I state, skimming through the latest Vogue issue. “Like, it’s definitely something unforeseen and so engaging. If only I was coincidently in Milan as well. I mean, look at the models they look like actual Barbies coming to life out of a box. Okay, I take that back, I love the Moschino runway show.”
I turn expectantly to Leah, hoping for once she’d actually be somewhat interested in the fashion world, only to find her fast asleep on the couch next to me, lightly snoring.
I mean her mom’s great aunt is the editor in chief for Vogue, how can she not be as captivated – if not more – than me? Every time her mom, Candace, sends her the latest Vogue issue, or a sample of a designer bag she automatically gives it to me knowing I’ll be head over heels for them – except for shoes, she’s as obsessed with shoes as I am.
My thoughts are interrupted with Leah’s phone going off, I can almost sense it’s Noel calling. Every since they became a “thing” they haven’t been able to stay away from each other, I’ll never understand. She also has this weird liking, a fetish if you ask me, for his hands. Who on earth knows they’re in love when they like the other person’s hands?
I pick up her phone from the coffee table and swipe the screen, noticing that it’s actually Dylan calling, as she lightly stirs in her sleep, completely unfazed by the incessant ringing.
“Princess’ assistant, how can I help you?” I purr into the line.
“Nice to hear from you, too, Alexa.” He chuckles. “Long time, no see, eh?”
“You as.shole! I cannot believe you took over two weeks off of school so you can go to Aspen with your ‘rents, without even contacting me. Not even once!”
“Cheer up, buttercup. At least I’m back, so you can’t miss me anymore.” He states playfully. “It was a nice getaway. I missed Andy a lot though, and you too of course.”
“I call bullshi.t, you’re just saying you missed me so I don’t tell Andy about that one time you asked me to show you my non-existent boo.bs in fourth grade and you ended up crying – And that’s the story on how the world found out you’re gay!”
“Can you blame me?!” He exclaims. “Your rack was petrifying when you were 11, they looked like swollen tumors.”
“Whatever.” I scoff jokingly. “So why’d you call Leah? She’s asleep, by the way.”
“Oh right, well we’re having a small get together at mine and Andy’s tonight. It’s going to be just a few of our friends, bring some booze and get your as.ses here around 9. And tell Leah to get Noel.”
“Alcohol!” I chirp loudly causing Leah to groan. “Fu.ck, is it wrong I don’t give a s.hit that it’s a school night and that I have a lecture at 11 a.m. tomorrow? And don’t worry, she’d get Noel even if he was banned from entering.”
“Nope, absolutely nothing wrong with that.” He reassures me. “Just don’t get shitfaced, and you’re good.”
“Okay, can’t wait to see you, di.ckweed. I love you!”
He laughs before saying; “Love you, too, bye.”
I end the call and check the time; it’s almost 7 p.m. right now that leaves us with only two hours to get ready. I push Leah off the couch in hopes of waking her up, in which I succeed.
