The following weeks after Patrick left the hospital, the fans were rather supportive. They sent gifts and posted get well soon posts on social media platforms.
Both Patrick and Pete were flattered by the fact that the fans weren't rushing them whatsoever and allowing for Patrick to just recover. But although Patrick was physically recovered from the experience, he was still mentally effected. And that was going to take months to recover from.
Patrick's current method of recovery was to be in his home studio for a couple hours a day, writing and recording music -some of the time it was just covers to get his kind off things - just for the time he goes back to Fall Out Boy - which at the present point would happen in a week or two. And Patrick seemed to be there at that moment in time.
He was sat there tapping his pencil to the beat he had in his head. The tapping noises echoed in the room and that's all that was heard. No humming. No words. No song lyrics. Just the tapping of a pencil.
Soon enough a notepad was pulled onto Patrick's lap and he began scribbling down notes for the beat he had in his head. It didn't take him long to do so and he smiled a little knowing doing this was helping him cope in a way. It also didn't take him long to come up with some lyrics and he jotted them down on a separate piece of paper along with the title of 'Alone together'. (I am aware this is already released but for the sake of this story pretend it isn't.)
Patrick hummed a little and sat back a little. He needed a few minutes to compose himself and relax after all that. As he did, a soft knock rang through the studio.
"Pete you know you can come in," Patrick called and the door opened to reveal Pete.
"What's wrong Pete?" He asked him softly.
"Declan is wanting to spend time with you," Pete told him softly.
Patrick chuckled a little as he slowly stood up and wrapped his arms around petes shoulders.
"Are you sure it wasn't you that wanted me to spend time with you?" He asked Pete with a smile.
"Maybe," Pete answered Patrick with a small blush.
"Then maybe I'll come down and spend time with you both. I need some time away from songwriting," Patrick responded with a small hum.
"How are you doing with the songs?" Pete asked him softly and Patrick hummed slightly.
"I've managed to write a new song that's helped me a little. But I'm not sure if it'll be worth putting on the album."
"Do you want to record it with me and Declan here? And we will be the judge?" Pete asked him softly and Patrick nodded.
"Please," Patrick begged.
Pete nodded and he dashed out the room to get Declan. It wasn't long before the two of them returned with Pete explaining to Declan what was happening. As Pete finished explaining to Declan, Patrick picked up his guitar and positioned himself next to the mic with the lyrics.
"Are you both ready?" Patrick asked them softly and they both nodded.
Patrick nodded a little and smiled before starting.'I don't know where you're going but do you got room for one more troubled soul...'
