The way his heart pounded when they kissed had him without a doubt on his mind that Amber was the one. Ever since they were kids he felt a certain connection with her, a need to hold her and tease her at the same time.

When he arrived at the palace, he went straight to Lillian and told her everything that happened with Amber, replaying the memories with a smile on his face.

"I always knew you two would end up together," she smiled.

"Damien, father wants to see you," Philip interrupted.

"Of course," he muttered under his breath and followed Philip to their father's study.

Within the palace walls, everything had gone back to normal after the gala.

"You know he disapproves of you talking to her let alone being together," Philip said.

"Amber! Philip; she has a name and you know it well by now and whom I choose to be with is my problem, not yours or his."

Philip said nothing.

Damien knocked on the door before entering the study, "you wanted to see me?"

"Where, why and who did you leave with last night?" his father asked, getting up from his leather chair.

"You already know who I was with, and the rest is only for me to know"

"You ought to answer me, I am your father," he yelled.

"When have you been a father to me? I'm an adult now and if I want to be with Amber, I will do so," he slammed the door shut on his way out.

Footsteps trailed behind him and knowing they belonged to Philip, he stopped, "now I know I can count on you, brother," he saw the hurt flash through Philip's eyes.

"What did you want me to do? You know what he thinks of her and honestly, I think he's right."

"What do you know about it? Have you ever fallen in love? Open your eyes, Philip, he controls you. You don't even have a life outside these walls"

Philip left without another word and Damien went to his room.
