Shane POV

"So neither am I," Shane spat.

Ryan stared into him with a mix of confusion, fear and anger. Without warning, Shane pulled Ryan to his feet and pushed him against the hard, cold walls. As he held Ryan at a choke hold, he couldn't stop the satisfaction it brought him. The sweet, pleasurable taste of revenge.

"Look at me, Ryan. Look at me," Shane demanded, forcing Ryan's fearful gaze towards him. "You did this to me. You made me into a monster!"

Ryan was struggling in his hold, but Shane held him still. Shane shook him forcefully, closing the distance between them. He let his anger overwhelm him.

"I doubt you remember me, R.G, even over all these years. After all, I was but a poor, young boy. A boy who picked to walk home down the wrong street, at the wrong time. I doubt you remember that night."

An inch from Ryan's face, Shane hissed at him. "I doubt you remember any of those you killed!"

Ryan's hazel eyes were stony cold. His expressions melted into marble, like he was trained to do. Shane didn't notice as he fingered his dagger.

Grimacing, Ryan replied earnestly, "I remember, Shane."

Suddenly, Shane felt a sharp sting of pain in his chest. Glancing down, he realized Ryan had stabbed a dagger through his heart. A stab driven to kill.

Taking advantage of Shane's shock, Ryan twisted away from him and slipped from his tight grasp with slick movements. Ryan rapidly picked up his fallen gun, and aimed it at the demon. His hands were shaking noticeably.

He confessed, a hint of trace guilt in his voice. "I remember all of it, Shane. I do."

Turning to face Ryan slowly, Shane gripped the hilt of the dagger with his right hand. A deathly grin lit up his features as he stepped towards Ryan. Tilting his head to the side, Shane plucked the dagger forcefully from his chest. He could feel Ryan's eyes widen in surprise.

With keen interest, he held the dagger up and observed the blood-stained weapon in the light. Smirking, he let it drop to the floor when he was done with it, and observed the wound in his chest.

"You think you can kill me that easy?"

Ryan froze, gaze darting from the dagger on the floor, up to the wound in Shane's chest. His lips were parted as if he was about to scream. Or stage a speech. Shane decided not to care.

On his way here, he was already convinced. This was not Ryan, it was an unknown stranger. A frightful, dangerous monster. Now, while he had the chance, he would cease its breathing, tear its fangs from its mouth. So no one else could hurt the same way he did, sucked of any glimmer of life.

Suddenly, there was a loud clunk. Shane's glance shot up in time to eye Ryan's gun plummeting to the floor.

Ryan lowered himself to his knees, shaking. Shane could perceive his timely surrender. He strode closer to Ryan, this monster that was reduced to begging. But this monster deserved no mercy.

Kicking the gun away with the heel of his foot, Shane sent it skidding to the corner of the room. Out of reach. He looked upon Ryan's trembling body and held his breath, awaiting Ryan's hands to be put up in surrender.

Yet, they never rose.

Shane sighed, and was about to turn away when his sensitive ears caught onto the strain of a sound. It came from the weakened monster, and it sounded like it was choking.
