We arrived at the fire nation palace a few days later, after Zuko succeeded in convincing his mother to get her old face back and go back to the palace. He promised her and her family a better life than what they had so far, the best life they could give Kiyi. A big party was held the night we came back for Ursa's return, and she was happy to see Iroh again. With the quest for her completed the avatar and his friends said goodbye to Zuko and left. Sokka for his wife and twins, Toph to her metal bending school and Aang to solving problems around the world. I chose to stay longer and help Azula, who was pardoned by the fire lord, to adjust to the life of the fire lord's sister. I also stayed to help Yrsa and her family adjust to life as the Firelord's family, but mostly so that I could spend more time with the fire lord himself. His family was a good reason to tell him about but he was the real reason, that I could never tell him about.

"we'll miss you back home," Sokka said and took me out of my head. He hugged me before climbing on Appa.

"I'll miss you too, big brother," I said as Appa rose from the ground. I waved to them as the bison flew further away from me.

"you should get some sleep, plenty of work tomorrow," Zuko said with a smile behind me.

"Yeah, I was just about to," I said and walked past him. he took my hand and pulled me into his arms.

"do you really think I didn't notice how hard you're trying to avoid your feelings for me?" he asked quietly and I blushed.

"What feelings?" I asked, he laughed and turned me to face him.

"I can see you blushing, I know you love me," he said, his smile widened at the second part of the sentence.

"and the feeling is mutual" he added before kissing me, wrapping me in his warming arms and making me melt with his kiss.

"stop it," I said and pushed his lips from mine.

"fine, you're right. I do love you and hearing that you love me back does make me happy, but the person you marry will have a duty that I don't know if I can handle" I blurted out everything I was thinking about at that time. He seemed surprised, but his eyes softened fast and he kissed my cheek.

"I didn't say anything about marrying you, not yet anyway. Let's just start dating and see where this goes" he said before letting me go and going back inside. I looked at him walk away, still blushing like crazy.

"hey, Ursa? What does a fire lady do?" I asked Zuko's mother the next day as we were walking in the gardens.

"he proposed? I knew he likes you but I didn't think he thought about it" Ursa said. I blushed.

"no, he didn't propose. He said that he loves me and my head just started going to marriage" I said, Ursa, looked at me and laughed.

"but you do feel the same, I can see it in your eyes," she said, sitting down by the pond and gesturing me to sit next to her.

"I do, have been for a long time, but it doesn't mean that love alone will make It work," I said to her as I sat down.

"true, but if you're both willing to work it I think it will result in marriage, and I know my son will be willing," Ursa said.

"a fire lady's job is to bring up the fire lord's children, make sure they are the perfect legacy and future of the fire nation" Ursa added, I looked at her.

"I believe Zuko will give his fire lady more work than that if she wanted. you won't have to just raise your kids" she said again, I blushed and she laughed.
