Everything was a blur. Once they arrived at the crime scene, sirens were already wailing and lights were flashing. There was a woman violently crying to the side of Keith, sitting on a big, concrete flower bed. A man in uniform was writing down something on a notepad while listening to her crying.

"That's his wife." Allura said to him, whispering in his ear and startling him. He was caught up in a daze that couldn't be shaken. Everything felt... weird.

Keith has a hard time believing anyone could be sad at the haughty man's death, but out there on the lawn was proof.

Who knows, maybe he was a different man when they fell in love. It seemed pretty hard to love him now, at least.

But Keith wouldn't know, exactly, since the only time they met he was a suspect in a homicide investigation.

The goal was to expect the unexpected but when your favorite suspect turns up dead, well...

The entire scene was on lockdown. No one had supposedly entered or exited the building since that morning when the body was discovered. Keith kept walking, following the person in front of him and trying not to pay attention to the sobbing woman who was now behind him.

Once inside the door and the no longer pleasant-looking lobby, Allura leans over to whisper another something to him, startling him out of his trance.

"Watch your six."

He nodded, acknowledging her advice. The raven-haired boy knew well enough to watch out for any threats.

The team walked through the big production room that was swarmed with officers all taking statement and witness reports from everyone that had been there during the morning. Some people were still in full costume, SFX and makeup smudged and damaged without re-touching.

Keith saw a glimpse of Lance, who was talking to an officer with his arm hung across his body like he could somehow protect himself, from across the crowd and felt the urge to call out to him as he reached his hand up to catch his attention.

Stupid, stupid. He thought, faltering and grabbing the his his wrist with the other hand and pulling back to his side.

Lance, though, by some miracle or curse (Keith couldn't tell at the time), looked over and for a split second blue eyes met violet. Lance's eyebrows lifted up- possibly in excitement (to see Keith?), although excitement wasn't really the right word. His eyes were were wide and his lips slightly parted as if he too wanted the other boy's attention.

Keith must have been a source of safety for the young star- after all, he was a federal agent.

Then his eyebrows furrowed again like he just remembered something awful and the tanned boy bit his lip and avoided eye contact with anyone but the ground, thus severing the connection with Keith. It was then that Keith realized tear tracks on his perfect face and realized he'd been crying.

Keith should stop being so selfish. Lance had just witnessed a person he worked with for days, weeks, months, years even, get murdered right under their noses. He must be questioning his safety and his career as he was temporarily out of a job and probably without pay. Even if he is super rich, that's got to suck.
