Stuck next to the Reds and Blues watching Church say his final goodbye to his friends. The moment he became pixels, you woke up.
Reader POV
I woke with a start and my face felt wet. Realizing that I had started crying, I wiped them away and sat up in my bed. My room was pretty simple. Bed in a corner, dresser parallel to the bed, and closet next to the dresser. But looking towards the door that lead out of my room and into the hallway, a tiny green hologram of a guy floated in front of me.
I jumped slightly and backed into the wall. “Greetings.” It said. I looked at the tiny guy carefully before it dawned on me. “Delta!?” I asked. “Yes?” he asked. So many emotions started flying through me but keeping myself calm in front of him, I started with the first question that came to mind. “How are you alive? You were destroyed by the EMP in Season 6.” I said.
“I recall that moment as it happened an hour ago. Seeing as I am still intact, I can only assume that when Agent Washington set off the EMP, it sent the A.I to here. Meaning there is a high probability that they too have found someone like I have with you.” He says. This all seemed unreal and I couldn’t believe that it was happening.
“I still want to know how the fuck you all came here from another universe.” I said. “I do not embody an answer as it should not be possible.” Delta says. I groaned in annoyance. I was getting nowhere and now there are powerful A.I out in the world for the taking. “Wait a minute. Won’t this mean Sigma will attempt to collect all of the A.I to gain Metastability again?” I asked.
“That is correct. Meaning we must stay alert and find the other A.I before he does. And if I may, what is your name?” Delta asked. “Y/n.” I answered. “Well then, Y/n, perhaps we should start looking for the others.” He suggests. “Y/n!” My dad’s voice called from outside my room. “Shit! Delta, offline.” I hissed at the A.I. “Complying.” He says disappearing just as my dad opened the door.
“Get ready. We’re heading to the store in a few minutes.” He says. “Okay.” I said. “Who were you talking to, by the way? I heard another voice with you.” He says. I internally started to panic but let out a deep breath. “It was one of my online friends. They called and we were talking about stuff.” I said quickly. “Fine. Just be ready to go in five minutes.” He says leaving and closing the door.
I sighed in relief as Delta appeared again. “Why did you lie to your father about me? Shouldn’t he know?” Delta asks. I shook my head. “One, he wouldn’t believe me. And two, I don’t want to drag him into this. Anyways, how are we going to find the other A.I before Sigma? Do you have some system in your coding that can detect nearby A.I?” I asked.
“As a matter of fact, I do. All of us have it.” Delta answered. “Fuck. That means the moment Sigma sees me, he’ll be tracking us.” I said while changing out of my pajamas and into a shirt and jeans. “Theoretically, we can’t detect each other if the A.I is offline and doing nothing. But that was never tested by Project Freelancer.” Delta says.
“If we do run into Sigma, I’m going to be hoping that works. Because otherwise, I’m dead meat and there’s nothing we can do.” I said. Grabbing my phone and cash from my wallet, I left my room and found my dad waiting for me at the front door. “Geez. You took so long to get ready I was ready to leave you behind. Let’s get going.” He says.
During the drive to the store, Delta and I were talking in my head seeing as that kept my dad from questioning who I was talking to. When the car stops at a light, I looked left and saw an axe fly past the car and I was shocked. “Did you see the flying axe too?” I asked my dad. “How could I not? It was close to hitting us.” He says.
‘Do you think Sigma already found us?’ I thought to Delta. “It is unlikely. He must have sensed my presence and had someone attack in our general direction. Or it is a criminal hoping to murder people because they would benefit with the money you and your father have in hand at the current moment.” He says. ‘I think I’ll stick with Sigma. Thanks D.’ I thought. “I’m here to assist.” He says.
Looking back to reality, I realized that my dad was just pulling into the store parking lot. “If we are to secure the other A.I, we will require your equivalent to a memory unit.” Delta says in my head. Walking inside the store, I stop so my dad would notice. “Y/n? What’s wrong?” He asked.
“Is it fine that I meet up with you by the checkout? I need to get something.” I said. Though confused, he only shrugged. “I guess. But I’ll be texting you when I’ve gotten everything. If you aren’t at checkout, I’ll come looking for you.” He says. I nodded. With that, he went towards the food and I started towards the electronics.
‘I think a USB drive will work.’ I thought to Delta. “I will check its properties. It must be sufficient enough to hold an A.I, but still allow one to project itself for communication. Unless you wish to not speak to them.” He says. ‘We’ll probably have to make Sigma's and Omega’s secure so they don’t escape. Maybe Gamma too, if he tries to cause problems.’ I thought.
I turn down the aisle and passed a man talking to one of the employees. “I just want to know where the fuck I am! I thought everything would look different after I deconstructed myself.” The man said. I paused when I heard that and Delta’s voice confirmed it. “Epsilon A.I detected.” He says. Turning back towards the man and employee, I figured I should say something only Epsilon would know.
