"So y'all not getting back together? Like ever?" Cassie whispered to me in disbelief. Tre and I breaking up was routine, everyone was used to our toxic dynamic that left me in tears one week and cheering him on from the sidelines the next. That was just us.

It had been a week since our falling out at my house and I had assumed that in typical Trevante fashion that he'd suggest a small break, not an official breakup. After suffering a pounding headache and crying myself to sleep that night, I awoke to various text messages vibrating my phone.

Baby💖

- We done for good Nic. I been feeling like this for awhile but I didn't know how to tell you. U cool but u not for me. This relationship should've ended along time ago 🤦🏾‍♂️ I can't do this any longer.

- Imma need my hoodies and jerseys back too 🥶

I looked at the text in utter disbelief, my vision disfigured, as if I was looking through a fish-eye lens. After all we'd been through it was over just like that. What did he mean I wasn't for him? I'll show him just exactly who I am. I'm that bitch with or without Trevante Rhodes.

"Girl I ain't like his ass from jump. You can do way better, Nic. Especially with all them ballers and cute ass rappers your brother hangs around. Trevante who?" Megan pursed her lips as she dismissively waved her hand at the mention of my ex.

Megan has been my right hand since elementary school, there's never a moment when we aren't together or by each other's side in any situation. She always keeps it real with me and that's why she's been around for so long.

"Mmm I think you being a bit extra, Meg. Yes the way he handled things with Nicki was fucked up but we can't forget how happy he made her." Lauren remarked while unwrapping a cherry flavored lollipop.

"You girls won't forget how far from happy I made you if I wrote you up for constantly disrupting my class. Pay attention and maybe then some of you wouldn't be failing this class." Ms. Evans barked from the front of the room while directly giving me the evil eye. Ugh, that bitch.

The last few remaining minutes into the period, Ms. Evans began passing back our Music Theory exam that we we're supposed to prep and study for in advance. However, with the Tre situation and cheer practice being thrown into the mix there had been no time for studying.

"We'll speak at the end of class, Maraj." Ms. Evans stated before slapping the paper down on my desk. A big red zero written on the front of it. I quickly brought it to my chest, praying that none of the girls saw it.
