Why God? Why me? I thought to myself as I begrudgingly took the seat next to Trevante, I could tell by the wicked smirk on his face that he was enjoying this. He enjoyed seeing me upset. That's why we were always off more than we were on.

"Did you get my text?" He dared to ask once Odell and Michael got up to meet with their partners. Tre always acted "hard" around them but behind closed doors he was the most needy person I've ever met.

Which was surprising because with an ego as big as his what could he possibly want from me that Diamonté couldn't give him?

"Oh that was you? I didn't recognize the number, it wasn't saved." I obliviously stated with a shrug, from the corner of my eye I could see his jaw set.

Checkmate.

"Bet. That's cute," He laughed wholeheartedly while placing his hand over his heart.

"Real cute, Nic. At the end of the day I know how you really feel though. Your feelings aren't going to fade that quick after a relationship of two years." Trevante persisted, but boy was he wrong.

After putting so much time into learning about his passion for professional football, his fear of failure, and his divorced parents he was willing to throw me away and jump into a relationship with another girl so quickly. He was a total narcissistic asshole from the beginning and I never wanted to admit it to myself. Until now.

"Trevante, please. I'm not tryna do this with you right now. Let's just finish this project and then we can go our own separate ways." I agitatedly huffed as I snatched the rubric off his desk and began reading it over.

"Fine. Have it your way." He folded his arms as I began working. He never wanted to put the work in once things didn't go his way, leaving me to pick up his slack. But unfortunately for him I'm no longer his girl, so I don't have to put up with that.

"Here you go," I grabbed the textbook from under my seat and dropped it on his desk. "You can read chapter 12 and 13 while I find the definitions to the key terms." He wasn't getting out of this that easy.

Silence finally seemed to settle between us once we both began working, I'd caught Aubrey's lingering gaze burning on the side of my face a few times causing me to give him a reassuring smile.

I admired how mature and understanding he was going about this whole situation, it showed me that I clearly made the right choice being with him.

"Ok, class. There's only 5 minutes left in the period so find a place to stop if you haven't already finished. I want this in as soon as you guys walk in the door tomorrow." Mr. Washington announced as everyone began to pack up. I looked over to see how much notes Trevante had taken but was met with a blank sheet of paper.
