San bit his fingernails impatiently. He just finished getting ready, so he's sitting at his kitchen table across from his mother. His foot taps against the wooden floor anxiously, nearly driving his mother insane.

"Stop biting your nails, San," she chided softly.

San pulled his fingers away from his mouth and placed them on the table. He sat up straight and sighed a bit. His mother gave him a warm smile, to which he gave a weak smile in return. She reached over the kitchen table and took his hand in hers.

"What are you worried about, honey?" she asked finally.

"N-nothing. It's stupid..." he muttered.

She raised her brows, not believing her only son one single bit. She knows him too well. She reached for the plate of cookies resting on the table. Gingerly taking two, she passed one to san. He took a small bite out of it, which she finds out of character. She made his favorite cookies, so the fact that he isn't scarfing them down is concerning.

"Is it about Wooyoung?" she pressed.

"N-no!" San exclaimed on impulse, "I-I mean..."

"Sannie, be honest with me, please."

San placed the cookie down in front of him and took a deep breath.

"Okay...fine. Yes, it is about him," San started to explain, "He read my message on Instagram and he didn't respond. He was here to pick me up, but then he suddenly said he had to go to the store. I think he was lying. I probably scared him off because I told him you wanted to meet him. He's definitely standing me up."

"Oh, baby, I'm sure you didn't scare him off. He'll probably be here soon from the store." His mother soothed.

"It's been 20 minutes! I shouldn't have said anything. I should have just met him outside. He probably thinks I'm weird for asking him to come in."

"San, I think you are completely overreacting. It's normal to invite people inside your house before you go somewhere."

"Yeah, if you're like forty years old!"

San's mother crossed her arms over her chest and frowned.

"I didn't mean it in a bad way. I'm sorry," he apologized, "I'm just a little upset."

"And you have no need to be upset at all," she rolled her eyes a bit, "You said it's been 20 minutes, right? San, the nearest store is 10 minutes away. He has to go there, buy whatever he needs, and come back. It's going to take a little more than 20 minutes."

San sighed. While he knows his mother has a point, he still has a bad feeling. He likes Wooyoung, but he still doesn't trust him too much. Wooyoung hasn't really proved himself to him yet. He could see Wooyoung being scared of commitment. San reached for his cookie on the table, when, all of a sudden, the doorbell rang.

San's eyes widened, and his mother smiled at him.

"Aren't I always right?" she asked smugly, finishing the cookie in her hand.

San chuckled as he got up. He walked into the hallway, stopping to check his appearance in the mirror. He takes a shallow breath before opening the door. To his delight, Wooyoung is standing there, scratching his neck awkwardly with his other hand behind his back.

"Hi," San greeted with a bright smile.

"Hey," Wooyoung muttered, avoiding eye contact.

There's a pause before Wooyoung finally meets San's eyes. The corner of his lip curls up when he sees San's beaming expression. Wooyoung loves seeing the boy's eyes light up when he's around him.
