Freya had felt many types of pain, either it be a sharp sting from a sword against her skin or the burning sensation that overcame her when she transformed, but nothing hurt more than what she was feeling now. Her own fear hurt more that any weapon could ever. Blackness surrounded her and fear struck her heart. Even with her heightened senses she could see nothing.
"Hiccup?" she cried out desperately "Hiccup? Ryker? Anyone?" She tried to move but jolts of pain shot up her leg and through her body. She managed to sit up but her left foot refused to ,move. Choking on her own panic, she leant forwards and used her hands to feel around. The cave floor was cold and rough under her touch. Reaching for her foot she was met with the dirty feeling of rock. Her foot must have been caught by the falling rocks. She shuffled closer to the wall and pushed at the wall. A deep rumble sounded and rocks began to fall once more. She let out a scream as they fell around her, freeing her foot but kicking up dust making it hard to breathe. She tried to cover her face but she still couldn't breathe. She began to feel dizzy and forced her body to move. She didn't know which way was up. She could hear the blood throbbing in her head and she gasped for breath. The walls that surrounded her were stationary, yet they closed in on her all the same. She laid down on the dirt floor and curled up into a ball. With each tense breath she forced herself not to hyperventilate on the stagnant air. All she could think was one thing. She was trapped again.
Memories flicked through her mind adding to her fears. She would never feel the sun on her face again, or hear the soft tweeting of birds. At least last time she had been alone when she became trapped. This time she had the other dragon riders. Would they cry for her? Would they look for her only to have their efforts end in failure? How long would it be before they forgot her? Silence echoed through her ears only adding to her pain. She felt vulnerable and alone. The dust had settled now but her lack of breathing stayed the same. It was like someone had their hands wrapped around her throat slowly getting tighter. Her mouth was dry and tears streamed down her face.
"Hiccup," she strained to scream again, but it was no use. No one could hear her inside her prison. She dragged her limp body towards the unstable wall and began to beat the sides. So many emotions ran through her body it was hard to pick just one. She was scared. She was angry. She was alone. Freya refused to be trapped inside herself again only to wake up centuries later, find someone that cared then have it ripped away from her. She would rather die than be trapped again. She pounded the walls until her hands were bloody and raw. Rocks came down around her but she didn't flinch. She was desperate and if one of those rocks showed her mercy enough to kill her then so be it. She gave on final blow and fell to the floor exhausted. As the last of the rocks fell around her and silence once again filled the air, a small but noticeable sound filled her ears. Breathing. The sound was close to her. Hope filled her heart at the thought of not being alone.
"Hiccup?" she whispered with trembling lips, hope held in her voice. This time a mumbled yell came from the other side of the wall. It wasn't the source of the breathing but it was something. "Hiccup. I'm here," she called out. A quiet crash sounded from the other side.
"Freya?"
"Hiccup! I..," A small cough interrupted her drawing her attention back to the quiet breathing behind her. She let out a growl at the source. "Come on Freya think," she mumbled to herself trying to still her trembling body. Closing her eyes and concentrating on the palm of her hand a small flame started to flicker, its light dancing across the walls and illuminating a body sitting up against the cave wall a couple of meters away from her. The person lifted his head towards the sudden source of light and raised his weapon. It was Viggo. He must have been unconscious the whole time.
"Freya?" he asked with a raspy voice.
"Yeah, it's me. Are you OK?"
"Well I'm still alive,"
