I ran as fast as I could which wasn't fast. By time I got home, after numerous stops and a short nap, the sun was well in the sky. But I managed to keep going. Not for my life but for my life with him. With that asshole.
My legs burned. Tears pricked at my eyes but it didn't matter. I was finally home. I jogged inside out of breath. I crawled up the stairs and into my room.
I looked at my alarm clock. "9:30 WHAT THE HECK! WHY DID IT TAKE ME MORE THAN 12 HOURS TO GET HERE!!!???" I quickly take a shower and get dressed.
There was no time to rest. I needed to warn Del and definitely didn't need to draw attention. Things were bad enough.
I needed to tell someone I knew could help and also not draw attention so that marked everyone in the crew off including Andrew.
No, I needed someone not only smart and strong but someone who knew Del.
I knew who I needed but neither of us would like it.
-----I walk into the school, trying not to draw suspicion due to my earlier absence.
Once I was through the doors I started to run to the cafeteria. By now, almost everyone was at lunch. Please don't be expelled.... please dont be suspended either while youre at it. I silently prayed to myself that he would be there.
I slow to a walk as I reached the doors to the cafeteria. I pulled up my hood, knowing the crew would instantly spot me like the hawks they are and squawk, drawing attention.
I scan the cafeteria. I let out a sigh when my prayers were answered. I start to walk torwards the table. Being the clutz I am, I accidently bump into someone. I grab their arms to steady them. I look at their face in horror. I press my finger to my lips, "shhhh." Wildcat stares at me in confusion but nods and continues to go to his table.
I sit by Evan with my head down. The jocks and cheerleaders hanging into them all turn their attention to me.
Evan snarls.
I smile. "I come in peace." I pull out a candy bar and give it to Evan, meeting his gaze. He hesitantly takes it.
"What do you want, (L/n)?"
I turn torwards him and lean in a bit. "Can we go somewhere less... Crowded."
His eyes widened. The cheerleaders glared at me. "That is not what I mean you perv... This is serious."He nods, sensing something off. I follow him out of the cafeteria and down the hall.
"Whats going on?" He asks as he walks.
"I think Dels in trouble."
"Tsk. Why should I care." He turned on his heel to go back but I caught his arm.
"Please, Evan, I'll do anything. Please, just help me." Tears pricked my eyes, I've tried to be tough but its getfing harder.
He stares at me in shock. I hear voices coming from down the hall. I pull him into the nearest room... Which just so happened to be the boys bathroom.
"Mmm, (Y/n), I didn't know you were into this kind of stuff."
I growled and pulled my hood off. Tears were pouring down my tired eyes. He went silent. "You don't even know what I've had to go through to get her. Now. To you. For him."
His face suddenly changes. Silence is all that is exchanged. He sighs. "You said you'd do anything?" He crosses his arms.
"Yes," I say, desperation dripping from my mouth.
Evan smiles. It was soft, somthing I wouldn't expect from him. It eases me a bit. The tears lessen. "You really are made for him."
I furrow my eyebrows. "What?"
He didn't answer. "What did you go through, exactly?"
I tell him the whole story. Beth and the house. Everything. No detail spared.
"Okay, I'll help." He turns to leave.
"What?"
He stops. "I'll help."
"Just like that?"
"You just missed chicken and waffle day to help Del. I know how much you love waffles and you must love Del a hella lot more... And I just so happen to be the biggest fan of that ship."
I stare at him before running and crushing him in a hug. "Thank you," I sob.
He chuckles," don't mention it." He pushes me away. "I'll see you behind the school later, right?"
I nod frantically.
He pushes my forehead. "See you then, Bella."
"Pft. Jerk."
