Chapter 20: Fighting for a bond

Undyne was on top of the cave, looking away, just like the first time...

Undyne: Seven... With seven souls, our king ASGORE will become a god. Six, that's how many souls we already have... Do you understand that, your soul, the seventh, is the key to a brighter future for us, monsters... But, like we use to do for the ones who get at this level...I'm gonna tell you the tragic story of our people.

She made a pause and turned around.

Undyne: It all started when....Why do you look like you already knew that? You know what? SCREW IT!!! WHY WOULD I CARE WHEN YOU ARE GONNA DIE??? PREPARE YOURSELF!!!

I was surprised since she said something different, maybe not falling of the bridge changed things a little bit....
She jumped at me, spear in hand, but I was prepared.
I dodged and looked at her, smirking.

Y/n: You're gonna have to try harder than that!

Undyne: THAT'S MY LINE YOU PUNK!!!

She thrusted her spear toward me, I dodged and grabbed the spear and kicked her away.
She got back up and looked at me, making an other spear appear.

Undyne: Let's have a fair fight.

I smiled.

Y/n: You're reading my mind or what?

She laughed as she rushed once again, swiping her spear horizontally, I blocked her spear with mine and parried with a quick thrust followed by a kick.
She grabbed my leg and tried to throw me away, only for me to hit her with the staff of the spear.

She immediately released my leg and threw a hard punch to my stomach, I saw her preparing to slash me so I dodged away and got back up but she was not in front of me anymore.
I quickly looked around, not seeing her, I then looked up to see her falling toward me with her spear pointed at me.

Y/n:Fuck!

I stepped back and, as soon as she landed, I threw a punch. It connected with her helmet but she grabbed my hand hand punched my face back, she tried to punch again but I grabbed her fist.
We were now in a force duel. I was struggling to keep my balance since she was really strong. But her, she was just chuckling.

Y/n: Are you mocking me?

Undyne: Maybe punk!

She was not being serious so I took that as an advantage and released her hand while retrieving mine, giving a powerful kick, making her fall backward.
But as soon as she hit the ground, she got back up.

Y/n: Your armour is cool but it's giving you protection...

Undyne: I guess against you I could...

She removed her armour.

Y/n: You'll be able to move faster like that, nice...

Undyne: ....Punk....

She sighed.

Undyne: You seem like a nice guy... But you are a human...it's my missi-

Y/n: It's your mission I know...

I hesitated for a moment wether I should tell her that a great foe will be there soon....

Y/n: I don't know if I should tell you that now but...

She looked at me, intrigued.

Y/n: There is an other human coming soon....

Undyne: An other human? How do you know that?

Y/n: I don't think you'll trust me if I told you the truth...But the human I'm talking about is the real danger, the last time I encountered....

I had a little flashback, reminding myself if how defenceless we were before we died...

Y/n: That human killed everyone...

She stood there, looking at me with a worried look.

Undyne: And you say that he will be here soon?

I nodded.

Y/n: That's why I want to ask you if we could make peace and be friends until we manage to stop that person...

She stayed silent, thinking this through...

Undyne: I agree......If this human is as dangerous as you say, you'll need help...

I made my way toward her.

Y/n: Thanks...

I extended my hand toward her, she looked hesitant but shrugged and shook it.

Undyne: But, even if I might not believe you...how do you know that this will happen?

Should I tell her.....

Y/n: Well.... Basically....when I die, it restarts things....

She tilted her head sideway.

Undyne: Huh? Like some sort of anime?

I chuckled and nodded.

Y/n: Yes ...And...when I said that our last encounter took the life of everyone...well....sans and papyrus were there....

She looked at me, chocked...

Y/n: We died in front of the catacombs door....and inside we found dust, a lot of it....Toriel was also dead...

She gasped.

Undyne: They....They died???

I nodded sadly.

Y/n: But it's in the past now, this world had a reset and here we are, no one's dead...

Undyne: When is that human supposed to appear?

I sighed...

Y/n: Toriel had send me a message telling me that an other human has fallen...if it's the exact same situation, then, as soon as she sends me a message, I'll rush there and bring Toriel to safety so we can fight off that human...

Undyne: It sounds so unreal...

Y/n: It's ok...When I learned that I reseted things when I died and that everything was back to normal...I was speechless...

We shared a moment of silence...

Undyne: Tell me....

I looked at her and hummed...

Undyne: In your 'previous life', have you met Alphys?

I nodded.

Y/n: Royal scientist and also an anime fan.

She rubbed the back of her head.

Undyne: Well......

She looked away for a second before looking back at me.

Undyne: Nothing...

I was confused but decided to not push it...

Undyne: What are you gonna do now Punk?

Y/n: Well...I was supposed to go to Alphys and then resolve the mazes that mettaton made to kill me....but it got me annoyed the first time so I'm not gonna do it again...

Undyne: You've met mettaton too?

Y/n: Yes...Alphys gave him some...enhancements....

Undyne: I see....

Y/n: But I think that I have an other solution....

Undyne: And what solution is it?

Y/n: Do you have her number?
