Misunderstood

Prologue

“Seriously, I don’t even understand why he continues coming here. He has no friends at all,” Sahara giggles as she leans in closer to her group of friends, their desks pushed together so they can talk about the boy in the back corner without being over heard. Not that it mattered, everyone talks about the lonely boy with tattoos, red hair, and face piercings. 

“Oh come on, he talked to that one guy last week,” Harper replies, covering her hand with her mouth to stop her own laughter. She gazes at the strange boy in wonder when suddenly he looks up from his lap to meet her eyes. Although they have been quiet she can tell from the way his green eyes have a shimmer of anger mixed with sadness that he has heard every word. She feels bad for a second but quickly lowers her eyes and continues to chat with her friends. 

“Babe, just because he talked to one guy doesn’t mean he has friends,” Luke teases, pulling Harper out of her seat and onto his lap. 

“I know baby, I was just playing,” she whispers, placing a hand on his cheek and leaning her face down to kiss him deeply. Luke and Harper are basically the school’s most well known couple, so their kissing doesn’t even receive a second glance. Both blonde with blue eyes from far away one may think they are related, but upon closer speculation one could see the protective way Luke gazes at Harper, the way she grabs his hand without realizing it. The only other couple that is even close in comparison to the two are Sahara and Ashton. 

Sahara’s wavy, long dark hair, green eyes, and light skin are a large contrast to Ashton’s tan skin, hazel eyes, and shaggy dark blonde hair but the two looked great together. Ashton, Luke, Harper, and Sahara were the group of the school; everyone knew their names.

“Well personally, I think he should just start getting home schooled. It would save him so much embarrassment,” Sahara speaks up again, leaning back on her desk and placing her two hundred dollar pair of boots into Ashton’s lap. 

“Aww, does Sahara care for the weird boy now?” Ashton laughs, giving her shin a teasing flick as he flashes his signature dimpled smile. 

“Of course not, I just don’t understand why he is still here. That’s all,” she shrugs, smacking her gum against her red painted lips. 

“Okay class, let’s get started. Harper out of Luke’s lap and into your own seat please. You in the back, off the desk. Come on people, we are not animals, you all know how to behave,” Mr. Winchester speaks, coming into the classroom pulling a large television screen. 

“Awesome another movie day, we could have totally skipped,” Luke groans.

“Dude, we’ve skipped almost every day this week. One class won’t hurt you,” Ashton chuckles, hitting Luke lightly in the back of the head. Being older than Luke, Ashton took it as his responsibility to watch out for him. 

“Fine, come closer to me baby. Let’s have some fun during this movie,” Luke whispers to Harper, pulling her chair so it is now only inches from his while Mr. Winchester turns out the lights and turns the television on. 

“We’re watching a movie on DNA replication today, I would suggest you take some notes because all of this is fair game for the exam in two weeks,” Mr. Winchester clearly states, putting in the movie and pressing play before going to sit at his desk.

The classroom remains silent for the first few minutes of the movie, Mr. Winchester catching up on some grading that he has yet to do. Harper trying to keep her moans in as Luke’s hand gets dangerously close to the center of her jeans. Ashton and Sahara behind them passing cute notes. And all the while, the red haired boy in the back corner not saying a word, just watching everyone else who are all quietly chatting with each other.
