Harper’s POV
Luke and I sprint through the packed sand of the beach, climbing up the steps of the beach house two at a time thinking that something is terribly wrong with our best friends. As I go to open the door Luke pushes me back, shaking his head and pointing to himself telling me to let him go first. I nod in agreement, even though I don’t think it is a good idea I’d rather Luke go first since he could put up more of a fight.
“What’s wrong? What’s going on?” Luke asks shakily as we both walk in and don’t see anything at first except for a very angry looking Sahara and a slightly bemused looking Ashton.
“Wait, what are Calum and who ever this girl is doing here?” I ask, looking to see Ashton and Luke’s friend Calum sitting on the couch with a very underdressed slutty looking girl. Calum goes to the school across town, but his dad works with Luke’s dad leaving Calum to become play pals with Luke and Ashton when they were younger. I had never really personally talked to Calum that much, but from what I knew he seemed like an okay guy, a little bit of a man whore, but a nice guy.
“Who the hell cares that Calum is here, why is he here?!” Sahara exclaims pointing towards, I’m assuming, what the scream was for. I see Calum look at Sahara with puppy dog eyes, and a large frown on his face as he hears her before I follow her gaze to see what she is upset about: sitting on a kitchen barstool with a large smirk on his face as he watches the scene before him is the red headed boy, Michael, I think his name is.
“Dude, what the heck? You think you can just crash somebody else’s party and it’s funny?” Luke speaks up, an angry expression coming over his face as he watches Michael’s smirk get larger.
“Luke calm down,” I whisper, gently placing my hand on his arm as I watch his hands ball into fists. I’d rather not have Luke go to jail for beating this kid to a pulp on the night where we are supposed to be having fun. Luke glances down at my small hand wrapped around his large bicep and he exhales slowly before turning around and taking a step towards me, wrapping me in his arms. I don’t know if he does it out of comfort and overprotection, or just to stop himself from going to hit something but either way I am okay with it.
“Ashton, why is he here?” Sahara asks through gritted teeth. I notice that Ashton hasn’t said a word this whole time and I look over to see that he has a confused expression on his face, as if he is trying to figure out the answer to Sahara’s inquiry.
“I have no idea. What are you doing here?” he finally speaks in a much nicer tone than I would expect. He doesn't seem angry at all, more just slightly annoyed.
“I heard there was a party going on and I decided to check it out,” Michael shrugs as if it is no big deal. The fact that he has pretty much broken into Ashton’s beach house doesn’t seem to faze him and it almost makes me want to laugh at how nonchalant he is about this whole thing.
“Well while you’re here you mine as well stay,” Ashton evilly grins, and I suddenly have a bad feeling about what’s going to happen. I hate to say it, but we aren’t the nicest group of people and I just feel as if Ashton is going to end up doing something bad.
“Are you serious?” Sahara scoffs, turning to Ashton, her face so red with anger it almost matches Michael’s flaming hair.
“Yes I’m serious, now let’s get some drink and play a game,” Ashton chuckles, wrapping his arm around Sahara’s shoulders and walking with her into the kitchen.
“Fine, stay. See if I care,” she mutters to Michael as she passes him in his seat at at the bar.
“Obviously you care, or you wouldn’t be this mad,” he smartly replies back, the smirk still present on his face. I let out a laugh but quickly stifle it as Sahara turns to give me a glare, holding my hands up to show her I didn’t mean anything by it.
