ii. first night in mtl

Cole wakes up to the sound of his phone going off. He looks to see his dad calling him.

"Hey dad," Cole smiles, answering the call.

"Hey son. How's Montreal treating you so far?" his father asks.

"Really good so far. I'm in my hotel right now. I'm gonna order some food in a little bit. Tomorrow I'm gonna do some sight-seeing. Wanna take advantage of the short time I have here," he explains.

"That's great to hear, son. I'll talk to you later since I know you're busy getting yourself acquainted with the city," his father, Paul, replies.

They bid each other farewell and Cole hangs up. He goes on Uber Eats and finds a good place to get some food. He waits for the food and watches TV. When his food arrives, he tips the driver in cash before eating. After eating, he gets a text from Stephany.

He goes back to watching TV and after about half an hour, he hears knocking at the door. He opens the door to see Stephany dressed jeans, sneakers, and a Metallica tee.

"Hi," he smiles, letting her in.

"Hey, nice room," she smiles, making her way to his bed.

"Thanks. Perks of being an NHL prospect," he smiles smugly.

"Too bad it's with an awful team," she teases.

"We'll see about awful when they make the playoffs this year," he retorts.

"You don't believe you're gonna sign?" she asks.

"I don't know. I'm still committed to play college," he replies truthfully.

"Okay, let's talk about tomorrow, then. I'm thinking I pick you up and we go straight to the cathedral. Then we go to Olympic Park. We can go to the Olympic Tower and the BioDome. Then after that we can grab something to eat at one of my fave restaurants. Then we can go get dessert at my job," she explains.

"Sounds great!" he smiles.

Stephany sits down, resting her head on the headboard. Cole sits down beside her.

"So how was work?" he asks.

"Good. I mostly work from home but sometimes I have to go to the store from time to time and check how things are going. I usually go there when we have new products being launched and when I have to do interviews," she explains.

"You're a store manager?" he asks in shock.

"For now, yes. The old store manager had to leave because her mom got sick. So the owner asked me to fill in for the time being. I was already the assistant manager so I knew my way around all this stuff for the most part. I work at Second Cup Cafe/Pinkberry," she informs him.

"Oh, that's really awesome! So you must make good money, huh?" he asks.

"I made $19,750 CAN, which is a little over $15,000 US," she explains.

"If for some reason my manager doesn't return and I get the position officially, I'll be starting at $35,665 CAN, which is $27,172 US. That's pretty awesome for someone who works part-time," she explains.
